Your beautiful [e/c] eyes never failed to make his heart skip a beat, it didn't matter if you were plump or slender, you beauty surpasses the physical state. He believed you were far more alluring than the nymphs in myths, the well-known goddess, Aphrodite could never compare to you, because unlike her, your soul and heart were truly beauteous.
How pure you were. Untainted by the vermin that surrounded around you, enchanted by your allure. You knew of their ill intentions and blackened souls yet you still saw the best in them, so you smiled. So soft, so gentle, so sweet, you smiled- the same smile you reserved for him when you were younger, you were now greeting people astonished by your charm with rosy cheeks.
He was displeased. He spent the majority of his years yearning for you- the warmth you radiated that seemed to heat up his whole body, the sparkle in your eyes whenever you felt passionate about something, the soft embrace of your lips on his skin, your existence that lights up his dark world. To him, you were like oxygen. No, your presence was much more vital than oxygen.
You were divine. Absolutely Perfect.
You were an angel. A flawless queen, he was ready to dedicate his whole life to serve your whims. You had no faults.
Except that man.
Was he a replacement for himself? A cheap imitation that glued itself to your side, so it could get in the way of what should have been a fairytale romance. The disgusting government dog that regarded itself a 'hero' was something you kept as a lover? Your old friend was in distress.
Perhaps if he were to return to you, you would get rid of it. If you didn't want to, he would have to take matters into his own hands.
Eli didn't show up.
You weren't really waiting for him, nor were you disappointed when your boyfriend couldn't keep his promise once again. He was a busy man.
Throughout the day, you had gotten several customers- a lot more than you mentally prepared for which was quite shocking for your opening, you just hoped it wasn't a one time thing. It was almost time to close up shop when another customer showed up.
"Hello, how can I help-" The rest of the words refused to escape your lips when you saw the person that just walked in. It was a man, an unbelievably handsome and giant man. To walk into your shop, he had to lower his head. But that was not what shocked you, it was how familiar he was that had you silent in disbelief.
You could never forget those pretty rose eyes, framed by snow white lashes. Always wide with wonder, except now they seemed to be blanketed by a hazy layer of emotions you are unable to read. His smile never changed though, it was still as cute as ever with his two slightly sharp canines peeking out. The last time you saw him he had short fluffy, white hair with tints of pink, now it was resting on his shoulders, making him look like like the prince that defeated a dragon and was able to save a princess in some children's storybook. He had always been fairer that most children that played out in the sun but now he was as pale as something undead that may feed on human blood to live, probably due to spending the past few years locked in a room with no chance to see even the smallest rays of the sun.
"Hey, [N/N]. It's been a while." The moment your childhood nickname escaped his lips, a surge of emotions washed over you, making tears pour down your face. It has been a long time since someone called you that, any doubts you had about his identity cleared away instantly. This was the person you lost all those years ago.
You didn't even realize when you left your spot and pulled him into an embrace, your tears were staining his shirt but you didn't really care about that at the moment. He gingerly wrapped his arms around your smaller stature, almost hesitantly, then pulled you even closer. The both of you stayed like that for a few minutes.
Finally you pulled away to have a conversation, "When did you get out?" You asked, curious about how he even found you.
"Last year, I went home and you weren't there." He replied. You left your hometown four years ago with Eli- he had to come to a bustling city to start his career, and you needed a change in environment. "Someone told me you came here, I've finally found you." He spoke, in a voice that was just slightly more audible than a whisper. You noticed that he has grown quite well, his once chubby face now seemed sharp, and his cute voice had changed into a deep one.
The one thing that didn't change was his behavior. He still appeared quite nervous, scared of his surroundings, as if something would jump out of nowhere and attack him. He seemed even more on edge than he did when you were younger, but you understood how that was possible- he was kept under surveillance this whole time, it's only natural he's wary.
"I'm sorry." You said in a voice so quiet it could barely count as a whisper, pulling him into a hug once more. You knew that despite moving on with your life, there was still the heavy weight of guilt deep in your heart and conscience. You hated yourself for being too weak to help him, to be there for him, to save him. Ephai pulled you closer, he rubbed soothing circles on your back.
"It's alright, [Y/N], I don't blame you at all. It's not your fault, it's theirs." He said, reassuringly. It was true that he never once blamed you, you could tell from how sincere he sounded. That didn't really help with your guilt though, you never even visited him. You tried to, the first few times, but only family members were allowed to visit. The procedures were endless for even them, so you gave up.
And you despised how easily you gave up.
