"While across the room he stares." My name is Tanner Kurt, and I'm Jacob's cousin. I first met Layla on thanksgiving when she proudly accompanied Jacob to our family gathering at my aunt and uncle's house. I was in the backyard that was muddy with dying grass because of the upcoming winter and rainy weather. I was playing football with cousins and uncles and nephews of all ages. She was in black jeans with black leather combat boots. Her sweater was a burgundy color, and almost ridiculously oversized. She hugged family members she'd seen before, but was aware that she seemed bizarre to the many family members that hadn't. Her confident, know it all attitude I learned too much about too quickly, made me very sure her relationship with Jacob wouldn't last. When I saw her again in the summer, still with my sweet, sensitive little cousin Jacob, I was very surprised. That being said, I was very intrigued by the spunky teenage girl, and I knew she kind of had a thing for me too. We haven't talked since Jacob and Layla's breakup, but I think enough time has gone by that I'm finally ready to talk to the girl I've had my eyes on for over a year.
