Nath got home, took off his clothes, showered and went downstairs into his living room. He turned on his large plasma TV and switched the channel to BBN show on his DSTV.
He loved watching the show, but looking at it now, he could only see. He could not figure out a word out of what they were saying. His mind had traveled so far that it was hard to drive himself back to the present.
He could not help but think about his prosopagnosia. He was just partially thankful it wasn't very severe. He could recognize his own face and some people, like his mother. But, it was not all the time. Not everyone knew about his inability to recognize faces. Just his mom and his doctor. No one knew at his place of work except Nester. He had found her trustworthy and had told her about it. To his surprise, she did not appear shocked the day she heard, she smiled and assured him that he would be cured in time.
People would have been wondering how he recognize his workers and people he met, too. That had not been easy for him. Given the fact that he could not recognize everyone, he made it compulsory for all his workers to always wear a tag, so he recognized his workers with their tags. Every worker had a tag with their names and posts. And he tend to always look for a special thing with people he encountered.
Just like Nester, apart from her tag, she had a big mole on her chin and that was very uncommon in people.
As at the time he met Lillian, then, he had just found out about the inability. He could not recognize a large number of people, then, but as time went by and his parent couldn't afford the money for surgery which was very expensive, his condition exacerbated. He started forgetting those faces he had once recognized.
And now that he could afford the surgery, he chose to go for medications instead. He wanted to challenge himself if he could recognize Lillian without surgery, but he knew that the chances and possibilities were very slim.
That was almost impossible.
His mind drifted to the new Lillian he met. He did not know why but he was attracted to her. The first time he had met her, he had felt attracted to her, as if there was something in her, pulling him to her.
But then, she was not someone to be friends with. She did not welcome any approach towards her. Most of all, she was rude.
He would have had the slightest guess that she was his Lillian if she had not been so rude. His Lillian was not like that.
But if she wasn't like that, then what was she like? The thought hit him like a rod on the head.
He thought of any response to the question he had asked himself, but could not think of any. And that was because he did not know. He had no idea.
Even if he had no idea, he assured himself that she could not be the one he was looking for.
Never.
