"Whoa! Waaah!", your ears hear a loud voice until you lift your head up to see what it was. But before you could even react...you were already hit. "Oh no. Oh no..!", the voice yelled over and over. You feel your body get lifted up, but you begin to squirm. "Hold on there, little one. Calm down!" you feel their hand stroking over you. You wanted to run...you wanted to leave, but your leg...it hurts so much. Before you knew it everything went black.
"Fukutomi! Do you have a small box?!" Fukutomi opened the door to see a worried Shinkai with a small rabbit in his arms. "Shinkai...what happened?", he asked. Shinkai shook his head vigorously. "No time, Fukutomi! Small box! With a blanket too!" Fukutomi nodded and quickly grabbed a small box and stuffed one ot the small towel rags into it. "There. That should be good."
Shinkai gently placed your little body into the box and sighed. "I messed up...I did it again.." he said and grabbed his head. The man was on the verge of tears until Fukutomi put his hand on his shoulder. "If anyone is going to get it back to health. I'm sure that it'll be you Shinkai.", said Fukutomi. Shinkai looked up to him and slapped his hands onto his cheek. "You're right..I have to keep my spirits up so the little one here will get better. I'm going to take her to the vet tomorrow." he picks up the box and holds it in his arms.
"Fukutomi. Thanks again. I'll see you later.", he said and proceeded to walk home. The following day you awaken to a baby carrot dangling above your head. Your nose wiggles and twitches as you try to sniff it. "Are you hungry?", asked Shinkai as he handed you the carrot. Your big (eye color) eyes starred up at his face before going to the carrot laying in front of you. "I wonder what I should call you for the time being.." he muttered. "How about..(Reader's Name)? That sounds really good and fits you too!", his hands began to stroke your (fur color) fur. You tried to hop away but squealed when you remembered your leg hurts.
"Hey! Hey! Easy there! You leg is broken." your ears twitch. Your leg is broken. Must have been when he hit you with his bike while he came up the hill the other day. You didn't care and managed to hop out the box you were caged up in and ran around. You found yourself in a dark closer and hid by his shoes.
Shinkai finds you and gently picks you up. He holds you close to his chest. "I'm sorry..I promise to make you better than ever. You're safe..alright?", he says. Your head is pressed up against his chest and your ears began to hear his heart beat. Why was it fast? Was he scared too? You nuzzled into his warmth and slowly fell asleep before finally being taken to the vet. Everything went well and you now have a cast on your leg.
It's a bit tricky to hop around though. One night, Shinkai held you once more while the both of you stared up at the moon. "Do you know (Reader's Name), that there is a bunny making mochi on the moon?" You listened as you gaze up at the white ball in the sky. Shinkai...must really like the bunny on the moon. When it was time for bed you stared up out the window from your crate. You closed your eyes and hoped to speak with the bunny on the moon.
You never felt like this towards a human, but with Shinkai...everything he does..makes you melt. His warmth is welcoming and his voice is kind. You want to talk with him, hug him, hold him like he holds you. You'd give anything to do it.
"Waaaah!", you hear a loud yell and slowly sit up. "Hmmm...?" you look up to see Shinkai standing over you. You tilt your head and looked to the side to see yourself. Your (eye color) eyes widen in shock to see that you were now no longer a bunny. You touched your hand, face, and hair before looking up to Shinkai.
"....Shin..kai..", you said his name softly and crawled over to hug his leg. "Shin...kai...", you said his name over and over. "Aaah..you can't be..aah..the ears..the tail..(Reader's Name)", he asked. Hearing the sound of your name and knowing he could hear you say his. You smiled happily. "Shinkai! Shinkai!", yelled over and over.
Your arms wrapped around him and held onto him tight. "Aah. I get it. Ahaha! I get it! You're happy.", he said and suddenly picked you up. You let out a little yelp. "Remember (Reader's Name)? You're not suppose to be on your feet. Your leg is still broken.", he said. You look at your leg and move it around. "No more hurt! All better!", you yelled happily.
Shinkai looked at you in shock. "But..how?", he asked. You pointed at the sky. "The bunny..on the moon!", but when you looked the moon wasn't there. "Where...did bunny..go?", you hopped over to the window. Shinkai chuckled and ruffled your head. "Bunny won't come out till it's night time.", he said.
"Bunny..Bunny..granted my wish..", you look over at Shinkai. You tackle him down and laid on top of him. "Want..to be with Shinkai...forever..I'm now..human..! So..I can..finally take care of you now!", you said. Shinkai looked at you weirld. "Wait. Hold on there. Hold on. Take care of me? You don't need too. I'm fine on my own (Reader's Name).", he said sitting up.
Your ears droop and your eyes get teary. "But..But you...Shinkai...you're so stupid....", you began to cry. "I'm stupid? Aah! (Reader's Name)! Please don't cry! Please??", he pleaded and proceeded to wipe away your tears. "You don't remember! Shinkai doesn't remember! I watch for you...everyday..at the hill.", you quickly got up and dashed out the door.
"(Reader's Name) wait! Don't go off on your own!", he yelled but you quickly got away and made your way back to the hill he hit you on. "Stupid Shinkai..stupid Shinkai doesn't remember..", you sniffled. But you remembered clearly. It was a year ago at least..you passed by a group of cyclist as they were stopping for water. When the others had left you saw that Shinkai was the only one left. You didn't pay him any mind at all but he noticed you. He gave you the last bit of water he had.
Humans...would never do that so easily. You dashed away from the water but when he left you took the water. After awhile you suddenly heard a screech of tires and a crash. Hopping your little legs to see Shinkai had lost control of his bike and crashed into the railings he looked heavily injured and you hopped by his side nuzzling to his face.
His eyes kept closing but you bit him on the nose everytime he tried to close them. You wanted him to stay awake. If he fell asleep. He won't ever wake up. "Don't..want Shinkai..to be like mommy.", you cried. You stopped at the top of the hill and heard a horn. You were confused at the sound and it scared you too. Your ears were pretty sensative to you quickly grabbed them down. "Too loud!", you looked behind you to see a fast moving car coming towards you.
You wanted to runaway. You wanted to move, but your legs were frozen. As if they were glued to the ground. You closed your eyes and prayed not to get hit. But..instead of being hit with a car you felt someone tackle you down and out of the way. Your (eye color) opened up to see Shinkai hovering over you. "(Reader's Name)! I told you it was dangerous! There are cars!", he yelled. You teared up, getting ready to cry, but he pulls you into a tight hug.
"You scared me..(Reader's Name). You gave me a heart attack. I thought I was going to lose you..", he said softly and stroked your hair. "Shinkai", you softly mutter his name and held on to him while you sobbed into his shoulder. "I'll take care of you. Nothing will harm you. Because I know you'll do the same for me..right?", he said and lifted your head up to his. "Shinkai...Yes!", you said happily and hugged him once more.
"Shinkai..always go so fast. You might lose control..and hit the railings again!", you said and clung to him. He picks you up and kisses your cheek. "That must make you scared..huh?" You give him a nod cups his face with your hand. "I always watch you..ride your bike..in case you crash again..then I'll be there to make sure you stay awake.", you tell him. Shinkai smiles. "That..makes me happy to know you worried about me. Thank you so much, (Reader's Name). Please...continue to take care of me.", he said softly and carries you back home.
