The man on my doorstep

I woke up at eight AM to the unbearable sound of my alarm. I groaned as I pressed stop. I brushed my teeth, then walked over to my closet. I have to look good, but not too forward. I picked up a pair of dark blue denim shorts. That works...i found a white off the shoulder top, with laced frills. I pulled on a pair of black trainer socks and tied my hair into a bun. Just like clockwork, my doorbell rang. I opened the door to be taken back by the man in front of me. I forgot how nice his presence was. His eyes flicker open at the sight of me.

"You look nice without the work uniform...and with it" He grins at me which makes me go bright red.

"Thank you!" I said while smiling. I left the door wide open and walked back, having the impression Klaus would follow. I turn and see an uneasy look on his face.

"Are you okay..? Come in." He smiles and whispers thank you.

Klaus and I had been working for hours, and when i checked the time it was already twelve PM.

"I'm famished!" He said through a smile. I let my bun down and flicked my black curls over my shoulder. He blinked and the smile went away, he fixated on my neck. His face started to change.

"Klaus..? Are you-"

"Yes i'm fine. I have to go." He interrupted.

"Excuse me? You can't just swoop in and out whenever you please." Klaus looked baffled by my response.

"You're right, love. I'm sorry. How about we get a bite to eat?" As he said that i slipped on some shoes and picked up my purse.

"That's more like it, I'm famished." He took my hand which made my heart skip a beat. I didn't let go though. I liked the feeling of his hands touching mine.

We arrived at a small but local cafe. Klaus pulled the chair out for me swiftly and tucked it back in before seating himself.

"What would you like to eat, Ava? My treat." That's an offer I can't refuse!

"Well in that case, a chicken salad sandwich sounds lovely." He nods and calls the waiter over. within a matter of minutes, my sandwich was placed in front of me.

"Wow, really fast service. Didn't you get anything?"

"No, i'm alright. Though there is something I've been meaning to ask you." I nod at him.

"My good friend, Marcel, is throwing a charity ball tonight. I would like for you to accompany me." I put my sandwich down.

"As a date?" I ask. Klaus sits back in his chair and begins playing with his thumb.

"Well it doesn't have to be if you don't want to, we haven't known each other for a long time so it's understandable if you want to go as friends."

I put my hand on top of his, to reassure him.

"Niklaus Mikaelson I would love to go." He looks at me and beams, I pick up my glass of water.

"I would love to go as your date. Although I have nothing to wear."

He smiled.
"Leave that to me."
