Chapter 23 ~The final chapter~

~Gray~

I stared at my friends. Natsu walked forward, placing his hand on the ice. His hand ignited into flames and the ice immediately melted into water. I jumped back, falling on my butt and raising my hand to keep them away from me. The flames disappeared and Lyon ]walked over, kneeling down beside me.

"Gray... Look at me." He moved closer. I flinched, shoving myself away from him and into a tree. I was stuck, staring up at him, up at those beautiful eyes that had always made me smile, "Just listen to me, Ok?"

He stood mere inches from my face, making my face turn completely red. "Come with me back to the guild, ok?"

I looked at him confused, "The guild?"

He smiled, "Just follow me. Ok?"

"Aye! Come on Gray!" A little blue, flying, cat said. Natsu held out his hand. I grabbed it and he pulled me up. Then I proceeded to poke the flying cat in the stomach.

"H-Happy?" I asked.

"Hey! That tickles!" He said.

I stepped back, falling on my butt again. "You know Gray, if you keep falling down, you'll never make it back to the guild alive." Natsu said, shaking his head, smiling. I stood back up, rubbing the back of my head, looking down.

"Hey, no need to take it personally. I was just joking."

"I-I know. I-Its just that, wherever I was before I came here, I was in love and the person I was in love with doesn't know."

He looked at me, shocked, "Huh. Well come on. When we get to the guild I'll fill you in on what happened. Ok?"

I nodded. He put his arm around my shoulder, pulling me back to the guild. When we got there everyone stared at us. Natsu removed his comforting arm. I looked around, Natsu pulled me over to the bar. We sat down while he spoke, "About three days ago we went on a job. You, Lucy, Erza and me. It was supposed to be a simple catch the criminal job but when we got there we were jumped by some wizards from Raven Tail. While we were fighting-"

"Natsu wasn't watching his back and someone went to attack him but you got in the way. If you hadn't been there Gray, Natsu would have been paralyzed and we wouldn't have been able to finish our job." Erza said.

"Then why wasn't I paralyzed?" I asked.

"The wizard's magic had different affects on different types of wizards. Natsu being fire, he would have been paralyzed for around two weeks. Sice you are ice, it put you to sleep for four hours."

"Only four hours? So then everything that happened was fake?" The person I loved was standing inches from my face but I knew he didn't like me. I could tell by the way he acted around me that he only saw me as a friend.

~Natsu~

I looked at him, knowing he meant me when he talked about who he loved. I had always had a small crush on him, but before the spell, he'd never shown signs of liking me. Oh well. Here's my chance to win him over. He was looking at me with a frown plastered on his face.

"Yeah Gray." I said, laughing, "Open your eyes Gray. It was only just a dream."

He looked sad, but then his frown was replaced with a fake smile. Inside I was hurting just as much as he was. It wouldn't work. Fire and Ice. We were too oposite. Too different.

"Well do you guys want to go on a job?" He asked. Everyone stared at him, smiling. Our Gray was back. I was still happy but a bit saddened at the same time. GAHH i hate feelings. Why can't I just like Lucy or Lisanna like Hiro Mashima wanted me to?

"Oh! This one guys! We have to take care of some WyVERNs." Gray said excitedly. How cute. I laughed.

"Lucy! Erza! Come on you two! Team Natsu is going on another mission!" I said, running out the door beside Gray. We looked back to see the girls running after us.

~Makarov~

"Master, do you really think its a good idea to let Gray go on another mission already?" Mira asked, standing next to me.

I nodded, "Those two boys have a hard future coming up. And even though Gray has realized it, Natsu will still be ignorant of the truth until Gray is ready to tell him it. Besides. Better that they fight outside than tear up the guild."

She laughed, "You know that just means more paperwork for you, right?"

"Natsu!!! Gray!!!" I yelled.
