"Huh?"
Kageyama backed up, staring down at the blushing girl. She was dressed in a puffy jacket, leggings, black leather shoes, and had a pink umbrella with her.
"C-Can I talk to you, in private?" She asked again, twirling a strand of her hair with her index finger.
"How did you know where to find me? The raven-haired male tilted his head, his tone stern.
"I saw you under a tree with him and I followed you." She tucked her hair behind her ear. "Can we talk now?"
"Fine." Kageyama rolled his eyes. He turned to face Hinata, who's grip tightened on his parka. Go inside, I'll text you later.
Hinata gulped, nodding slowly. He turned around and opened the door to his house. He stopped and turned around, watching him and the girl walk away. He bit his lip, his heart aching. He felt jealous. He wanted to know what the girl asked him. He hung up his parka, watching the two walk across the street and stand on the other sidewalk.
His hand tightened around the doorknob, his teeth gritting together. Hinata fixated his gaze on the girl, realizing she had a red box with her.
Wait.
Blush, nervousness, a gift, talking to him privately. It finally clicked.
No!
Hinata had no time to retie his shoes. He darted out from his porch, tripping over himself a few times before reaching Kageyama.
"Nrohh! Nwoeh!" Hinata barreled into Kageyama, his arms wrapping around the tall boy's waist as he head-butted Kageyama's side.
"Hey!" Kageyama stumbled to the side, looking down at Hinata. "What're you doing, dumbass?!"
The girl stared down at Hinata, who slid to the floor and lowered his head.
"You're gonna catch a cold!" Kageyama scolded, sliding his hands under Hinata's armpits to lift him up to his feet. "Hinata, look at me!"
The orange-haired boy looked up to meet his friend's gaze. Tears clouded his eyes as his breathing hitched from his sobs.
"Sorry Misaki-san, I have to take him in before he catches a cold." Kageyama bowed apologetically to the girl. "I'll think about your request, though."
"No worries." She waved. "Take your time. See you at school." Misaki turned away and walked off. She didn't even have time to give Kageyama the box.
Kageyama wrapped his arm around Hinata, leading him back inside. Hinata stayed quiet, finally calming down. They entered Hinata's house, Kageyama taking his coat off and his shoes.
"Sorry for the intrusion!" Kageyama called out before dragging Hinata to his room.
He set the deaf boy on his bed and closed the door.
Are you an idiot? Kageyama signed angrily to Hinata, who stared at Kageyama with a worried expression.
Did you accept her confession? Hinata asked, cupping his hands together.
"Huh?" Kageyama tilted his head in surprise. He grabbed a towel from Hinata's drawer and draped it over Hinata's wet hair, leaving his face exposed. How did you know it was a confession?
Lucky guess. Hinata lied, drying off his hair slowly.
Truth is, Hinata saw the girl at school with the same red box. He noticed she followed Kageyama and him around a lot with her friends, her face flushed like from earlier on the porch. He assumed it was a confession, and following them to Hinata's house confirmed his suspicion.
I didn't accept it, but I didn't deny it either. Kageyama's eyes drifted down to Hinata's wet clothes. Go take a warm shower, you're gonna catch a cold.
Hinata took the towel off his head, setting it beside him before standing up and walking his bathroom. He took a long, hot shower, warming himself up. It was quite the dumb decision to run out into the rain without a coat, but he had to stop try and stop the confession somehow. He failed to do so, but also didn't give Kageyama enough time to think either.
Kageyama left clothes outside the bathroom door for Hinata, which he gladly took and changed into after he dried off. He hung up his towel after drying his hair off.
He met Kageyama's gaze after leaving the bathroom. Hinata looked away, his cheeks red. He sat beside the tall boy on his bed, bringing his knees to his chest.
You can stay the night if you want, the storm is supposed to get worse tonight and I don't want you going home in it. Hinata signed to Kageyama, nudging his shoulder with his elbow.
Kageyama nodded. "I guess."
Hinata scraped together a pillow from his sister, Natsu's, closet and an extra blanket he had in his room. Kageyama decided he would sleep in the floor, too embarrassed to sleep with the orange-haired boy.
The blue-eyed boy laid the pillow and blanket out on the floor next to Hinata's bed. Hinata took out his hearing aids and set them on his dresser, stretching his arms out.
I feel bad that you have to sleep on the floor. He frowned at Kageyama, fiddling with his thumbs.
Kageyama waved, telling Hinata he didn't mind.

It was around eight o'clock at night after Hinata and Kageyama finished dinner. Hinata's mom was overly excited to see Kageyama again, exposing Hinata on how he talked about the dark-haired boy everyday. Hinata was flustered, but Kageyama didn't notice.
Kageyama slipped under the blanket, resting his head on the pillow. It was quite uncomfortable to be honest, but he didn't want Hinata to start worrying about him again.
"Gohniht." Hinata spoke, climbing into his bed and slipping under the covers.
He didn't know if Kageyama had said goodnight to him or not, but he imagined he did in his mind. He buried his face into his pillow, his whimpers muffled. It was hard to stuff his feelings down, but he didn't want Kageyama to know.
Hinata was in love with his best friend.
h o l y s h i t. this took two decades to write idk why. sorry it's been awhile since i last updated but i've been busy with school and i'm currently finishing attack on titan woo two more episodes.
but i've been thinking. i was coming up with AU ideas and i thought of a really good one i might consider writing about. a haikyuu surfing AU. i like the idea of it and thought it would be cool to put a whole bunch of haikyuu ships in the story but also focusing on surfing more. i don't know but i'm considering it, so i might look into it and start writing.
this is probably gonna be a shorter story than i thought, so sorry 👁💧👄💧👁
anyways, sorry for the late update, i usually write pretty much everyday but i've been stumped on ideas for this story for awhile, sorry in advance lol
