Michelle POV
I wake up to the sound of my alarm letting me know that it was 4:00 am and this is was time to get ready for the airport. I hope out of bed and start to get dressed for the plane ride back to New York. I wanted to dress comfortable but also dress kinda cute for Michael.
My outfit for the plane:
I put on this cute cropped grey hoodie
Paired with these cute matching sweats and white tennis shoes
I threw my hair up into a cute messy bun and then make my way down stairs.
I come down stairs to see everyone ready except the Sanzone's. "Mom. Where's Michael?" I ask confused "oh hunny they had to catch an earlier flight home. Didn't Michael tell you?". "Tell me what?" I say now become slightly impatient. "Well, Thomas (Michaels dad) got a job out in San Pedro. So they had to go home on an earlier flight than us so they could start packing up their house" My dad says chiming in. "Are you serious?!" I couldn't believe this. Michael was moving across the country, and he didn't even care to mention that in the hour of silence we shared at the park yesterday? I never got to say goodbye to my best friend. Im on the verge of tears when my brother snaps me out of my thoughts. "Come on Mitchie we can text him in the car. Okay?" My brother Carlo says giving me a sympathetic smile. Carlo always knew how to crack a smile on my face, even when I was in the worst mood ever. I'm so lucky to have such a great relationship with all three of my brothers. Even though they annoy me for all of my life. I still love them. I walk up and give him a side hug, and we stay that way as we walk to the car.
"Here use my phone." Vinnie says handing me his phone. I go to Michaels contact and start to text him.
Sanzone 🇮🇹
So I guess you weren't just going to say goodbye then?
This is Michelle btw
Michael I cant believe you didn't tell me this.
Moving to CALIFORNIA!!! Like that's kind of a big deal.
After all our years of friendship I just still can't believe you
didn't say goodbye.
I hope you still stay in touch Mike while your out there living it big.
I love you Mike. Thank you for being the best friend a girl could
Ever have 💛End of message
I hand the phone back to Vinney and just sulk and stair out side the care window taking in the beautiful sights of Sicily. I tried so hard to enjoy my last moments here, but I still couldn't get out of my mind the fact that Michael never told me about this. We told each other everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. I wanted to text him how I really felt. How confused he left me and how angry I am towards him to just kiss me then yeet himself back home. I didn't though. I couldn't have Vinney read the messages back and find out what happened between me and Michael at the park.
~at the airport~
We all check in at the airport and make our way through security. Were just now sitting by the gate waiting for our boarding number to be called. We were blessed to have first class. My dad wanted us to be comfortable for the 9 hour flight that awaited us.
Flight Attended - "flight 167 Sicily to New York is now boarding. We would like to welcome out first class passengers on board..."
That was our cue to get up and head for the plane. I get to my seat and get settled in.
The seat has the option to pull into a bed, so as soon as I get the green light I'm pulling that sucker out and taking a fat nap. As I sit and wait for the plane to take off, Michael comes back to my mind causing my excitement to become disappointed. I stare aimlessly out the window wondering if Michael's gonna text back. Is he going to keep in touch with me? Will he come back and visit me? Are we still going to keep the same traditions we've always had? My thoughts are clouding my mind. So I shake my head and put on a pair of head phones turning on some happy 50's music and drift off to sleep.
