Matty's P.O.V
As I made my way down the halls I just kept quiet, drowning in my own thoughts. Suffocating in my self-hatred. No one took notice in my loneliness, and that is precisely where I'm going with this. No one noticed because no one cared. I'm not going to lie, I'm not skinny, I'm not drop dead gorgeous, I am pretty plain actually; Therefore in the lust clouded minds of everyone walking around me, I wasn't on their list of things to do, literally.
I liked to lie to myself and pretend it didn't bother me. I pretended I didn't feel jealousy seeing the jocks walk with their tiny-waisted, petite girlfriends. The theatre kids walk with their group of friends, seeing the band students walk with their acquaintances down to the classrooms where other groups of different ethnicities or common interests would huddle in until the teacher instructed them to settle down so the class could begin. As I saw almost everyone walking with another person dear to them in some way, shape or form, I walked alone. Simply by myself.
I kept my head down, looking through my eyelashes to avoid colliding with my peers which would only ignite an awkward apology from both of us, or commonly just me, and then we would carry on with our life, forgetting that insignificant interaction with a complete stranger or just someone you've seen around before.
Conversations went on around me, clouding my head with useless thoughts. I tried my best to clear them but then new ones would make their way into my mind, making me repeat the process an awful lot before I walked into the quiet hallway where my last class was. This hallway was in the way back, only containing about two class rooms and three other staff rooms. Not many people walked in it unless they had to reach their classrooms or they were teachers seeking for a much-needed break.
As I walked down the colorless hallway, that was adorned with a couple of motivational posters that no one really took the time to read, my breathing was heavy and uneven due to the stairs I had climbed down just before making a detour down the hall. As a guy from my class walked by I did my best to calm my breathing down, we made eye contact for a split second and kept on walking. When he was out of earshot I let out a cough trying to mask my urgent need of oxygen. When I finally walked into the quiet classroom I did my best to sit down on the chairs without making a sound. I successfully managed to fail due to the loud creaking the chair did as I sat my weight on it. Some people looked up but quickly carried on with whatever they were doing before I disrupted the peaceful silence.
I let out a sigh as I got out the materials needed for this class, trying to finish the day as quickly as possible.
I was about to open up my phone to entertain myself, seeing as there is still a couple of minutes before the bell rang signaling the start of the class, but I heard talking behind me. I don't know why but I was interested in the conversation.
"Did you hear?" It was one of the popular girls that sat behind me with her "friend", personally, I don't know why they sit with each other considering they speak poorly of one another when they aren't together.
I think her name is Jenna, I have never really bothered remembering her name even though she was in two other classes with me.
"No, what happened?" Said her friend, who's name I didn't know.
"Apparently there will be a new exchange student coming from Australia tomorrow, I am so excited!" Jenna replied.
"Oh my, Gabby if he is hot you need to hook us up!" Said her friend.
Oh, I was wrong. Her name is Gabby, my bad.
"Haha oh sweetie you know if he is hot I'll be the first to hook up with him, then when I'm done you can have him." You could almost hear her twisted smirk in how she spoke.
The way she talked about him was sickening, she was already objectifying him without even knowing him. Before her friend could reply the bell rang, the last few students hurried to their desks and sat down waiting for Mr. Smith.
A few moments later, he walked in through the door with his briefcase, quickly throwing us a short apology for being late. He mumbled a few incoherent words before passing out papers and telling us to be quiet and work by ourselves. I soon sunk into my desk and began working, hoping that time would go by quicker than I expected it to go.

As soon as the bell rang, I gathered my stuff up quickly and made a bee line to the door. I was almost out when I ran into someone, as I look up I see one of the jocks looking down on me, both metaphorically and physically.
"I'm so sorry I didn't see you there-" I was quickly cut off by him mumbling an empty 'it's okay' and making his way inside the classroom. I let out a sight I didn't know I was holding as I made my way to where the buses are.As I was looking for my bus I spotted Gabby talking, well more like flirting with a guy. He was dressed in a varsity jacket, he had black hair and really blue eyes. As I was trying to remember his name, he caught my stare and made and unreadable expression and looked back at Gabby. I quickly looked away as well, not wanting to repeat another awkward eye contest that was rather unnecessary. When I found my bus I climbed in and made my way to the back.
As the bus soon started to fill up with students so I decided to do something I commonly do. I pulled out my headphones and drowned every noise out. The music being so loud I felt a faint sting in my ears but I didn't care, I needed to temporarily be in my own world.
I soon dozed off and just looked at the scenery outside the moving bus, my skin itching at the anticipation of finally getting home.
