Welcome to the prologue

"I'm never giving you away." was the only sentence that could define Yoongi's side of the relationship that he had with Taehyung.
The dry yet determined, shaken off of any feeling words that were in contrast of his gentle touch of cold fingers over the boy's warm skin around his neck and over his necklace that made goosebumps appear over the sweet honey colored smoothness.
Taehyung couldn't feel any toxic possessiveness, however. The words, as icy as they reached others' ears, were innocent and oh so pure, coming from deepest places of the vampire's heart; and he was certain about this.
He felt safe yet drowned and choked up with despair, as if he had found his long lost home along the war destroyed lands. Completely ruined yet the familiar scent of a mother lingering between the broken bricks.
So Taehyung smiled, eyes glossy with a sheer layer of the tears that Yoongi seemed to adore so much, letting the older drag his fingers over his uncovered calves.
Yoongi might be insane for this, but he deeply adored everything that the younger did, even if it was something as simple as tapping his pen on the table as he thought about the unsolved physics problems, or the way he huffed a string of hair out of his face.
"Yoongi..." Taehyung whispered, as if he were begging for something indefinable. Yet, he didn't seem to get the attention of the older eventhough he was sure Yoongi heard him clearly.
"Yoongi-" The caramel haired boy tried once again only to be caught off by the way the gentle fingers gripped his leg as the black haired vampire tilted his head, looking directly at the boy's eyes as tears of blood fell down his pale cheekbones, staining them a pretty shade of red.
Taehyung felt himself sobbing his heart out, clear tears falling off onto the healthy looking skin of his as he tried to hide himself in other's neck.
"Don't go." It wasn't a demand that ran out of Yoongi's lips, it was the most humbled request, the most desperate wish he could form with words.
But Taehyung... he only cried louder at the way his friend begged for him.
"Why not me? why am i not your only choice? why am i always the one to get left behind," Yoongi didn't attempt to wipe his tears, his face was probably red with blood and sure it was stinging but he gave up. It wasn't like the last time, he felt it deep within himself, he could even taste the different bitterness of naught on his tongue. there wouldn't be another Taehyung somewhere on earth waiting for him, reaching out for him to get him out of this state.
Yoongi wasn't an idiot, he knew this day would come when the latter's mate would find him. He wasn't for him to love and hold; but he went out of his way and fell in love so deep that he got trapped, everywhere he looked, he would only see the strong feeling that he held for the younger. He was lost in it, and had no desire to be found and rescued.
And there he sat, on the very same chair he cuddled with the black haired boy, forced to let him go forever. Werewolves... fucking possessive savage dogs. If they only weren't so territorial, if they weren't grown up to despise vampires, maybe- maybe he had a chance to see the boy again.
He couldn't take Taehyung away from his destined mate who was bond to take care of him and cherish him. He knew it was the boy's only chance to be accepted by his community. He could never be selfish when it came to him, he wished he could.
He grabbed the boy's shoulders to detach him from his neck. His once dark eyes looked much brighter as they were decorated with redness around them; and there the vampire understood that he had to be strong for both of them and do this. His bloody eyes went dry within seconds as he wiped the boy's pink, burning cheeks.
"This is the end, Tae." Taehyung shook his head to disagree, definitely not loving the sudden change of atmosphere around the older.
"I can't... i can't, hyung, please, stay with me." it was his fault and the boy knew it. He was so tempted to be accepted as a member of a pack that he was selling out the person who meant the world to him. All parts of him wanted to back out but there was that one small part of him that just wanted to know what was it like to not be looked at like he's some kind of freak.
The vampire couldn't smother him with love and tell him he'd always be with him, he couldn't lead him on.
Yoongi shook his head as he gently pushed the other off of his lap, turning the chair to face the burning fire, only showing his side profile. Taehyung stood on his shaky knees, chest heavy with regret that he denied of growing. Yoongi was giving up on him... he was breaking his promise; he felt suffocated breathing. How he wished he could stop time right there and at that moment, keep on suffering and aching from head to toe but stopping the other from saying those words and himself from hearing them.
"You've made a decision, Taehyung. A good one. It's gonna be fine, you'll forget about me in no time. Try to live a better life than me." Yoongi's voice was the perfect mixture of comfort and sternness despite the cruel meaning behind the words as it distracted Taehyung from seeing the way he hid the werewolf's necklace in his palm. He wasn't going to need that anymore.
"Goodbye."
