The next week flew by. Work was lonely without Brenna, but today was the first day of school, hopefull meaning we'd be close again. Be able to catch up after the week where they'd been on different schedules.

Just another year of Brenna and Kindred getting mixed up for each other, though they didn't understand how anyone could confuse them. another year of studying, putting up with drama, and listening to how wonderful Taylor was and what achievements he had made as the weeks progressed. In 40 weeks, I would be out and hopefully free this time.

"What should I wear?" Brenna held up a strapless dress and short shorts with the same pink shirt she'd held up to herself a week ago. "Um...I'm not sure whatever you think works. And what do you think for me?"

"Go with your short shorts and the purple shirt. I will wear mine and the pink shirt." She showed her bright white teeth and hung her dress back up. "Now, how shall I do my hair?" This question wasn't directed to Kindred, but to Brenna herself as she picked up her hair and looked at herself in the mirror. Fianlly, deciding to wear it down in its usual messy, yet elegant way, she sat down at her own vanity.

Breakfast was quick. Their mother went through the same procedure, asking each child if they were excited and all ready as the devoured their blueberry pancakes, as first-day-of-school tradition. As the girls got up and grabbed their bags their mother stopped them. "Picture, please?" Their mother smiled and positioned them in front of her oversized fireplace. One together, one individually, one of all three of them, one of each of the with mom and dad. Same routine, every year. Dad shot them both a disapproving look, but their mother brushed him to the side. They hugged and kissed and the kids were off to another first day of school.

"Must we take pictures every year?" Kindred griped as they wakled to the car. "Yes, we must I want to remember every first day. It's a way to see how I've change." Brenna looked at Kindred and smiled, she flashed a quick one back and then unlocked the truck. "Get in back Taylor," she yelled. He groaned, but climbed in and buckled up.

<Brenna's point of view>

As we pulled in, Kindred pulled into the same parking spot as she always has. "So predictable" I thought as I smiled to myself. As we left the Dodge Dakota I was sure to lock my door. This old thing didn't have electronic locks, and though we'd like it to, that wasn't possible. Not for a model like ours.

I saw Alyssa, Seth, Jake, Gauge, Megan, and all the others standing around the picnic tables in the court yard, or what we called the court yard, of the church across the road from the school. They all greeted Kindred and I with tight hugs. Even though Kindred isn't the hugging type, she hugged each individual returning the tight squeeze she received.

I was jealous of how beautiful she was. Her blonde hair sparkled in the Sun as it rose. I smiled at her and put my phone in my large, more like a suitcase sized, purse. She did the same with hers, except her purse looked exactly as that, a purse. I looked across the road and noticed people walking into the building, time to go face the first day of school. As I turned to walk, I noticed Seth fall in line with Kindred. I couldn't help, but to smile to myself and pass them.

We sat at home, a lone at the end of the school day. Our friends, our study group that is, would be her later. I look once more at the TV guide and threw the remote down on the sofa as I walked out. I joined Kindred in the kitchen where she'd found a box of Wheat Thins and spray cheese. "Hey." She spoke spraying crumbs all over me. I gave her a snide look and laughed, taking the box of Wheat Thins from her. The doorbell rang as I pranced off to get it she hurried behind.

As I opened the door and allowed the group in, Seth led. I couldn't help, but to sneak a peek and notice the look he gave Kindred. It was cute, sweet, almost like he liked her. She returned the glance and led the way to the living room as I closed to door. I smiled slightly to myself, but continued to was in, getting ready to "study" with the group.
