ABOUT A WEEK LATER

"mom what if one of us has a baby?" sarai's older brother solan asked. "shut up i am cleaning." said in her african accent.

"well." he snickered and looked at sarai. "solan are you having a baby?" she asked him. he looked at his mother who had stopped cleaning by now to give her full attention to her son.

"yes?" he said and waited for his mother to reply. "yooo mom beat his ass!" sarai was confused as to why her mom hadn't thrown anything at him yet.

"Sarai watch your mouth!" she had thrown a cleaning bottle at the girl. "woooow. i say one word and get windex thrown at me but he conceived a whole child and gets nothing? cruel world mommy. cruel world." she stood up and walked to her brother.

"congrats big bro. not changing any diapers." she patted his back. "oh come on rai. your niece is gonna need you to help out a little bit." he said and both sarai and their mother went silent.

"niece? how do you know the gender already?" his mother questioned. "morgan's seven months." he said

"SEVEN MONTHS? i haven't even bought it anything yet." sarai sighed. "her name is Matalyn." he corrected her.

"ew why the hard 't'?" sarai cringed her face. "for my big homie mattia. he seems to make you happy."

"yeah. we aren't together tho." by this time the two had moved into sarai's room. "why what happened?"

"well i dated sebastien because mattia had a girl at the time. but then he cheated on me WITH the girl that mattia was with. we're friends now i guess."

"what do you mean friends. how are you not mad?" he asked her. "i don't know. i guess i kinda am. but every time i look at him i want him to rip me apart."

"a, gross. b, i hope y'all using fucking condoms because dad would kill you" they both laughed. "he's still in Haiti he would never know."

"but for real rai. i don't want you to mess up your life. or his. you better be car-" "better be careful i know i know."

sooner or later her brother left her room. she was excited to be an auntie, and more excited that it was a girl.
