Johnny set me down, chuckling awkwardly. "Uh, oh."

The principal stood there, tapping his foot impatiently.

I looked at him. "Trouble?"

Johnny nodded. "Trouble."

I sighed and shook my head. Johnny was always getting in trouble. It's a wonder he hasn't got expelled yet. I watched as Johnny shuffled to the principal, and as I got ready to turn around and head to my class, I heard the principal speak up.

"Mr. Lee, you, too." The principal called after me.

Great.

I pretended to be asleep when the nurse came in. She drew my curtains, bringing in the bright sunlight. I frowned.

"Great! You are up, how do you feel?" She inquired, walking over to my mom, shaking her awake.

I feigned a yawn, to keep up my act. "I feel fine. How's my leg?"

My mother yawned and stretched. She still looked beautiful. I wondered how many hours of sleep she got, if any. Her and hospitals don't go well together.

"Do you want the truth?" The nurse questioned, as she scanned my face.

I nodded.

"It's broken. Nothing too major, but I'm afraid you're going to have to stop dancing for a little while."

Great.

"Would either of you like to explain to me as to why you were both acting a fool in my hallway?!" Our principal asked us irritated.

Silence.

"So, neither of you have anything to say?" The principal asked, as he looked back and forth between me and Johnny.

"If I may-" Johnny began.

"Save it, Suh." The principal interjected, holding up a hand to stop Johnny from continuing. "I don't want to hear any of your many excuses." The principal put his hand down and eyed me suspiciously. "How about you, Lee, huh? You got some excuses for me?"

I shook my head. "No sir."

"Two of my brightest athletes acting like complete fools. Unbelievable," The principal stated as he started doing his signature pacing around the room. "Now, do you know the real reason I asked you in here this fine morning?" He stopped and looked at us for an answer.

Neither of us said anything.

"No? Well, let me tell you." Our principal continued.

Johnny and I exchanged looks. Here we go.

"I brought you in here today to tell you that the both of you will be representing our school in this upcoming Scholar Bowl."

"In what?" Johnny asked.

"The Scholar Bowl." The principal responded enthusiastically.

I blinked. "What are we going to do?"

"Represent." He asserted.

"But why would we do that?"

"Because Johnny, if you don't, I'll give both of you detention for five weeks plus one week of mandatory janitorial duties."
