Part 9. First Date?

"Gulf can you hand me the bowl", Grace called out. She looks back and laugh seeing her brother spacing out.

"Gulf!"

"Oh! Sorry, what is it?", Gulf asked startled. He woke up early because they are supposed to go out today but Mew is still sleeping and he couldn't go back to sleep, he already kissed Mew in his sleep and he might want to do other things to the sleeping man so he went down.

"A bowl, please"

Gulf silently pick up a bowl and hand it to his sister.

"If you wanted to go back to sleep, go ahead. I'll wake you up later. Is Mew still asleep?"

Gulf nodded, "He's been busy these days"

Grace smile, "You two stick together all the time recently. Reminds me of that time when you are still a child, you used to follow him around"

"How come I don't remember and you do?", Gulf answered pouting, their age difference is not that much.

Grace, "I'm still older than you so I can remember well. You used to drool on his shirt, sit on his lap, and you cry. We used to quarrel a lot back then; and me and Jom tends to stick together and make you cry"

Gulf smile, "I guess it's in his nature to be patient. He is so laidback, he never complains whenever I want to do something if we are out"

Grace laugh, "Really? I used to think that Mew is so stiff. The quiet and serious type. Well, maybe that's because you get each other better and you both enjoy hanging out. Having our forced dates are not so fun and he just tends to watch or indulge me"

"Why did you never like him?", Gulf suddenly asked.

Grace smile softly, "I like him but not that kind of like. Mew is a great guy but we just don't click romantically. I don't know either, it's just...we don't. There is something that Mew told me before 'I believe that feelings and love can be developed but it should not be force'. And I do agree with him. When I met Tong, at first I didn't like him, our views differ in so many things but my feelings just naturally grow. On the other hand, look at Mew and me, after so many years, it won't work between us"

Gulf, "Why don't you tell mom about your boyfriend?"

Grace sighs, "Mom...mom will either be mad or push me to get married. I don't like to get married yet, I still want to do other things alone, without having that kind of responsibility to a husband or my family. Ever since I can remember mom has been urging me to be with Mew, I guess I don't have the courage yet to disappoint her. I've never done something she doesn't like and I'm afraid she'll fall ill because of it. But I'll tell them soon. I just wanted to enjoy my time with Tong", she shrugged her shoulders, "You asked me as if you told mom about your exes before"

Gulf laughs, "How did you know?". Those are just short relationships he had back in high school and another during his freshman.

Grace glare at him, "We are in the same school. Why wouldn't I know"

"Gulf"

"Gulf"

Their talk was disrupted when they heard Mew calling and looking for Gulf.

Grace smile, "It is nice to see you two get close now. You two might end up being best friends before he goes back to Shanghai. Even if it doesn't work out the way our parents wanted it to be, the two of us we can still be the best friends with Jom and Mew"

Gulf stayed silent, a friend or a brother. His feelings for Mew has gone beyond those. He can feel his heart beating fast just thinking about Mew.
