Hey guys,
I'm coming to you live? In 2020.
I just wanted to say that before you read this book, whether you're newly coming or an old reader, that thank you for picking this up, but also, put it back down.
I am not proud of this book. I am not proud of the story I told, especially not the way it was originally told. I wrote this book when I was damaged child; I used it as an outlet to express not only my own grief and also my own insecurities. Frankly, revising this to remove that toxic aspect of this story has shed some light on how ashamed I am overall with this story.
The revised edition promises 100% consensual acts between Xander and Ara. They met at a party, they slept together, she got pregnant, and heard nothing from him afterwards. Nothing else in the story changes. Not even my really shitty premature writing and characterisation.
This story is only staying up for those who hold it close to their hearts and still reread it years later. For you guys, I promised to keep it up, and I'm sorry I took it down. It was hard to keep up because I hate the way that I represented things, reading this story triggered my own experiences as a young woman who has been [TW]sexually assaulted[TW] and the way that this book told that story–ROMANTICISED it just didn't sit right with me in years to come when I realised that this wasn't how the story should have been told. I'm hoping to put out more of my writing out into the open, stories that come from a hopefully more mature person.
That's all I wanted to say and clarify. I'll slowly put the book back up once I garner the courage to make sure I've removed everything that even suggest an assault of any kind and I am ADAMANT on the fact that everything that happened between Xander and Ara is 100% consensual (although a drunken one night stand can be argued against because they were both very drunk taking advantage of each other).
Lastly, if this book has triggered you or someone you know, if this preface has harmed your thoughts in anyway, please give these lines a call.
