A/n: I altered some parts of the original story to fit the flow of this book.

Jinwoo might have been tired because of his previous destination, but he'd be damned if he gave his weariness permission to keep him from spending time with you after all those years of your presence being absent in his life. Heck, it took him a few minutes of persuasion before he had finally released you from his brain because he feared that if he had let go, you would once again be gone. And thus, you two were now situated on the swings, with you trying to explain why you had suddenly left without a word.
"It's 'cause of daddy issues. My old man trained me to the bone in America to increase my overall strength as an S-rank, and while it did work in the start, I didn't notice much difference after a few months which caused him to send me back here in hopes of finding out why there had been no improvements in spite of rigorous training," you said in one go. It made your head ache as you remembered what had transpired during your days in a foreign country just to satiate your father's hunger for power.
Your friend pondered on your words for a minute, before asking what had been boggling him since the beginning. "You just left me without giving me a heads up. You didn't even keep in touch with me afterward that it was like every moment we shared was just a figment of my imagination. Why?"
"Why indeed. That sorry excuse of a father stripped me of any gadget that I could use to communicate and had made sure that my entire focus was fixated on training. I even tried sneaking my way to the storage area just to get my phone, but of course, things didn't work out in my favor," you explained before sighing. Those days were literal hell and as much as possible, you didn't want to relive even a second of it.
The ravenette remained hushed for a moment, taking it all in. So that's why... You didn't cut all ties with him because you wanted to, but because of external forces preventing you from doing so. Good, good. But as he remembered all those times of him bawling his eyes out as he took a shower, all that was instilled in him afterward was shame.
With your keen senses, of course, you took notice of the changes within him. You saw a faint shade of rosiness splotching both of his cheeks. And even if you wanted to tease the hell out of him, you guessed that now wasn't exactly the right time to do that, but later, you'd make sure that you would.
JInwoo coughed in his hand as he looked away. Even though the closeness of you two didn't dwindle, he still carried this feeling of nervousness as he did years ago. When you went away, he thought that was where it would stop, but much to his surprise, it only grew stronger. The longer you were gone, the bigger his yearning for you grew. And now that you were right beside him right now, real, someone whom he could talk to and receive a response, someone whom he could touch as a reminder that he wasn't just dreaming, he was at loss as to what he should do next.
"Would you like to go to-"
Ring ring
He took his phone out of the pockets and saw that it was his sister. As much as he was in despair since the moment had been ruined, he just couldn't get mad at his sibling even if he wanted to. You mouthed 'Jin-ah' and the nod of confirmation was all you needed.
You would've liked to barge into their conversation unannounced, but arrived at the conclusion that surprising her would elicit a reaction you would be far more humoured with, so you signed for Jinwoo to keep his mouth shut about your unexpected arrival, and so he did.
"...Do you remember that you have to come to school today?" Jin-ah was still the same as ever, you mused. The volume of her voice was naturally loud, so to see that there were still things that hadn't changed made you feel elated.
"By when do I have to get there?" Jinwoo asked, cold beads of sweat forming around his forehead since he involuntarily forgot that his sister asked him to act as her guardian for today, and because of him being on a mission just a few hours back, it had completely slipped his mind before being made aware of it by this call.
"5 o'clock!"
You glanced at the watch strapped on your wrist and seeing that it was about half an hour 'til it reached five, it was no surprise that Jinwoo was now shitting his pants. Not literally, but if it had been any later, he would.
"I won't be late, don't worry!"
"As expected of my brother! Call me before you arrived!"
JIn-ah had now hung up. "Her school isn't that far from here, so if I called for a taxi, we could-"
Placing your index finger on his lips, you shut him up as you used your own device to phone someone that could help you both in this situation. "Hey, Driver Lance, would you mind if you picked us up from xxx's playground? The one I used to frequent before. Yeah, okay, thanks."
"It'll take a few moments for him to get here, so for the meantime...
want to make out?" This was what you meant by saving the teasing for later. And by later, you meant minutes after. Well, it was certainly worth it seeing an all buffed up Jinwoo blushing as the previous him did.

"Y...Y/n? Is that really you?" Jin-ah stumbled upon her own words during the start of her sentence. Was that really you or someone that just happened to look like you?
"Ah, my Jinnieee. Would you please grant me the wish of receiving a hug from you first before you start questioning my identity?"
You anticipated to be enveloped into her arms, but what you didn't foresee was to have stumbled a bit due to the force of her suddenly jumping in you. For someone like you that had all of their stats maxed, this was quite an achievement for a non-ranker like Jin-ah.
Who knew that your return to Korea would be full of surprises.
