I apparated precisely onto the highest step. It has been less than a week since Sirius had died, but the Order had already vacated the house, for fear of Sirius' deranged, delusional family being able to get in. I'm the only one willing to take the risk. Besides, it's a brilliant business opportunity. This house is FULL of silver and gold. I could make hundreds of galleons from stuff in this house.
I walked down the narrow, dimly lit hallway, and past the hideous troll foot umbrella stand, which remained on its side as always. I skulked into the drawing-room, and my eye wandered the room. I didn't dare venture upstairs, we had no idea what was in most of the rooms, and I had a slight suspicion that there may be a dead body in one of them. I started rifling through the draws in the drawing-room. An Order of Merlin, a Gold ring, A Locket with a Snake on it all went in my bag. My eyes then scanned the room for anything else. I was about to take my leave when I had a spark of genius. The books. I normally would leave the books, they weren't my natural field after all, (I frequently went for the illegal or stolen items that are worth more) but these are old and could be worth a lot. I tipped them into my bag. I came across one book 'Magike Moste Evil' I tugged at it, but it was rather stiff, I tugged again. All of a sudden, there was a loud grinding noise.
