The look on Cedric's face grew dim as he couldn't hold back his questions anymore.

"Uh - I'm not Edward, my name is Cedric. Also, am I dead? Because I'm pretty sure I remember dying just a few hours ago..."

"Haha!" Carlisle was amused, but ignored Cedric's comments. "As inhumane as this may sound, you're my newest creation, Edward. I'd like to give you a name of my own if I could."

Cedric, now apparently Edward, nodded in agreement. I could get used to a new name - Edward. I like that, he thought.

"Look, over there. Can you smell that?" Carlisle continued.

Edward's eyes turned a deep, bright red as he could oddly smell the luscious blood of a deer from what looked like two miles away. It was standing on a hill in the distance; the two could barely see it, but could strongly smell it.

Edward's breathing became louder and his fists became clenched.

"Why am I tensing up - why does that blood smell delicious -why do I have the urge to bite into it?" He ranted. "What have you done to me?"

Carlisle stayed calm and replied, "Edward, I know you've just met me, but to stay alive and hidden, I'm going to need you to trust me. All of your questions will fall into place soon enough, but for right now you just need to know that I saved you from death; and now you get to live an immortal life; with me. And some others you'll meet all in good time."

"Wait - immortal? Did you turn me into some kind of demon? Oh, that blood smells better by the second..." Edward's mind wandered off, following the scent of the deer.

"You're a vampire, Edward," Carlisle started quite clearly.

Edward was convinced this was a dream, so he just rolled his eyes in astonishment.

"Go kill that deer," demanded Carlisle.

"What? Like, hunt it?" he rebuked, amused. Carlisle smirked at the sass that was portrayed with his slight English accent.

"Yes. Once you get closer you will know what to do."

Edward was convinced this was either a dream or he was dead. So he started walking, then running towards the animal, staring at Carlisle the whole way.
