Walking into the house I paused. Something was wrong.

It was quite.

I turned around ready to walk right back out the door, when arms wrap around my waist and flip me over the couch onto my back.

I feel like I'm suffocating.

I close my eyes and try to calm myself down, knowing I'll be able to breath in a few seconds.

Finally air rushes into my lungs. I look up to see Axel staring down at me smirking.

A growl runs up my throat and I lunge for my older brother. Fear flickers through his eyes seconds before I ram into him.

It doesn't take very long for me to pin him down. Evie walks through the door looking at scene in front of her, not at all surprised that I had her mate beat.

"Babe please stop aggravating your sister."

A look of irritation appears on his boyish face as he pushes me off.

"But babeeee-" he whines.

"No buts. I know she didn't start it. So don't even go there."

Evie always has my back. Even when it comes between me and her mate.

I laugh in his face and run for Samson's office

Today was they day Samson and his mate would start moving into the pack house. Victoria is Sam's beloved mate, she is definitely different from us.

Victoria is human after all. A very short human. Tori is 4'10 on a good day and Sam is the second tallest in the family after Harlan, standing at 6'4.

Evie is a small petite girl just 4 inches taller than Tori. I, on the other hand was a good 9 inches taller than Tori.

Though all my brothers beat me with their height. I have always been able to beat their ass. So it was a win/win situation.

"Sammy-"

I slam the door open to Sams office to see my father, Sam, and Harlan talking with a man that radiated power.

Father gave me a stern look as they all bowed their heads toward the floor.

His power felt like gravity was pulling me down. I fell to my knees onto the hard wood floors. Pain shot through my legs that made me wince.

"And what do we have here?"

I try to bring my head up to look him in the eyes and answer, but a splitting migraine pours throughout my head and I keep my head down.

"Aspen, sir."

"Aspen? What a beautiful name. Do you know who I am Aspen?"

Aurora is cowering in the corner of my mind chanting something about the king.

Realization dawns on me. This is THE KING. Like the one and only KING.

"T-the king, sir."

"That's right sweetheart."

He gazes down on me with a smirk. "She looks just like her mother you know, Richard?"

Father gives the king a smile and stands, slightly leading him out of the office.

"That she does, Thomas. How bout we talk about these matters in MY office where we won't be interrupted." He gives me another glare and leads the King down the hall.
