Your POV:
Today is the day I move into a new town. I'm leaving behind my previous life in the city, leaving behind my friends and family. I sigh as I finish loading the last of my boxes into my car. "Goodbye apartment," I say, almost TOO enthusiasticly. My neighbor, who was gardening, looked at me funny. I rolled my eyes. Maybe I landed myself some better neighbors than the ones here. I get into my car and start the engine, and the music comes blasting out. I jump a little, but when I realize its just queen, I giggle. The lady who I lived next door to was still looking at me funny. I stared her down and she left me alone. As I pull out of the parking lot and start driving, I cant help but feel like im making the best decision of my life.I almost miss my driveway, I was too busy gawking at my neighbors house. It was gigantic! Quite magnificent, if i had to use one word to describe it. I got out of my car, still staring at it. Suddenly i felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked, and it was a short lady with curly hair and freckles. I assumed her to be my next door neighbor. "Hi! I gather you're the new neighbor! I'm Abbey, I live next door! (yup) Whats your name?" I tore my eyes from the house across the street and smiled at her. "Hi, my name is Y/n! Its a pleasure to meet you!" She smiled and shook my hand. I was dying to ask about the house parallel to mine. "So, where are you from?" She was trying to make small talk. It's understandable when you're the new resident, but c'mon. "I'm from the city," you said hastily. "Hey whats the deal with that house?" Her smile faltered, which threw me off. Her answer made me even more concerned, because she didnt give me one. If you ask someone a question and they change the subject immedeately after you ask it, it's pretty obvious theres something up with it. "So if you need anything, I'll be right in that house over there," she points to a brightly colored house, placed conveniently next to mine. "Oh, and theres a party on friday at 5pm, if you want to come and get to know everyone in the neighborhood."
"Thank you, I'll make sure to be there." As she walks off she turns to wink at me, which makes me blush profusely. Not the time for romance yet, Y/n. I push my thoughts to the side, and let my eyes wander to the house again. It's like theres something in there that just drags me in. I need to get closer. I walk over and ring the doorbell, hoping someone would come to the door. I felt like someone was looking through the peephole, but I couldn't see through. "Hi, i'm your new neighbor," I said with a slightly raised voice, "Your house is very beautiful!" I hear someone rummaging around behind the door, but no one answered. I decided to leave them alone, realizing how creepy me standing at their door and talking to someone who might not even be there looked. I went back to my car and started to unpack my things.I grunted as I tried to fit my legs into my old suit pants. "Jesus christ these are smaller than I remember..." It had been 3 days, and I was getting ready for the party at Abbeys house. Trying to make a good first impression, I was wearing a purple button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up, a black bowtie, and black pants. My hair was slicked back and I was wearing my doc martins with the roses on them. I was nervous, but that wouldnt stop me from dressing well. I had already become acquainted with everyone in the neighborhood, but I wanted to get to know them all better. Especially this one guy, Paul. He was pretty and I wanted to get to know him better. I ran my hand through my hair and did the finger guns in my mirror. I sighed and facepalmed, "Why am i like this." I shook it off and went outside to walk to Abbeys. As soon as I stepped out of the door I stopped abruptly. I could feel someone watching me. My eyes immediately went to the house across the street. There was the outline of a male figure in the window. When he saw that I had seen him, he ducked away, into the darkness of his house. When his silhouette moved, a glowing door was revealed. It creeped me out, but I started to feel myself get pulled towards it. I had taken a few steps when Abbeys voice rang out, "Hey Y/n, get in here!" There was music playing behind her, and it looked like there were a few other people. I smiled and ran over, forgetting about the house.
"What?" He was asking for my number. "Just so I can show you around sometime," Paul smirked at me. He was way more extroverted than I thought he was. Excitedly, I wrote my phone number done on a sheet of paper. "Cool. I'll call you," he winked and walked out the door. Abbey and i were the last ones at her house. "I'll see you later, Y/n," she said eagerly. "Bye abbey," I staggered out the door, clearly drunk. I stumbled and fell. Shit, I giggled and picked myself up. I ended up closer to the house across the street than mine. I knocked on the door, hoping whoever lived there would let me stay, cause even though my house was only feet away, I was curious and tipsy. I heard the lock click and the door opened a crack. "Hi," I giggled loudly. The man was shrouded in the shadows, so I couldn't make out his face. He shushed me and quickly pulled me inside.
