Dawns POV
My feet pounded the ground.Im running,it's so dark I can barely see anything.Someones after me.I make for one final sprint hoping it's enough to get away.I look behind me and they're gone.I sit on the ground,my legs and chest burning.Suddenly I feel a sharp pain on the back of my head and all went black.
I'm nudged awake by a white wolf.I could see every rib on the poor thing."Hello."It spoke."H-hi."I manage to stutter.My head felt like my brain was about to explode.I thought I was just going crazy.
I got up and looked around,four rock walls with a small barred window on the back one.A grate door on the front wall but it was so dark I couldn't see anything outside or through the door.I could barely see the wolf.
I walked back over to it,"What's your name?"I asked."River,and your Dawn."She smiled."how do you know my name?"I ask."Because I heard them say your name as they brought you in."She smirked."Makes sense."I said under my breath.I laid on the cold wet floor and fell asleep.
The next morning I woke up in the middle of the forest.River was right next to me.I nudged her awake."Where are we?"I asked."Looks like a forest to me."She replied."Smarty pants."I smirked."I don't wear pants."She said.I chuckled.
I followed River through the woods.We came upon a stream and I instantly fell to my knees and shoved my face into the water.River lapped up some next to me.When we finished we followed the stream until we found a cave.We went inside and slept on the hard floor.She curled up next to me,her soft fur keeping me warm when we both fell asleep.
The next morning I woke up and River was gone.I jumped to my feet and bolted outside.I didn't see her so I ran to the stream.She was digging at a tree's roots so I went out looking for food.My stomach growled.I can't remember the last time I ate,but I also don't remember anything before the time I was running.
I stumbled over something and when I looked down at what it was...I gasped.It was a dead body with an axe in its chest.I bent down and whispered "I'm sorry"As I ripped out the axe and searched his pockets.In the front pocket I found a lighter.
As I approached the cave I noticed River eyeing the axe."Im not gonna hurt you"I rolled my eyes.I threw the axe down."Thought maybe I could get some firewood or something."Now River rolled her eyes.
I went out and got the firewood and some dried leaves.I noticed a tall tree filled with fruit.I gathered as much as I could carry along with the firewood and the dried leaves.
When I came back River was gnawing on a bone.I made three separate piles,one for the leaves,one for the fire wood,and one for food.'At this rate we might just survive for a while'I thought."When is winter?"I asked River."Soon."She replied.
"Will we have enough food?"She asked."I hope so."I replied though I was doubting it myself.
