001 - CHILDHOOD

Awsten Knight. His life seemed normal, but if Wizards of Waverly place taught us anything its; Everything is not what is seems.

Awsten grew up with a little secret. A secret that he almost let spill hundreds of times when he was younger... infact he did tell many people when he was younger but they never took him seriously.

"No guys I'm telling you for real! My mommy and daddy are spies!"

"Yeah right aws, and my parents are astronauts" the group of 7 year old walked away from the boy, laughing about the truths he was spilling.

"No one ever believe me" awsten sighs, sitting on the grass and plays with a dandelion. Suddenly, he feels a hand on his shoulder

"I believe you" awsten looks up and sees a boy with short curly hair looking down at him

"My names Otto! What's yours!" The curious little boy sits next to the blue-green eyed kid

"Uhm, I'm awsten"

"Awsten don't be a pussy! Just ask her out" Otto tries to convince his bestfriend to ask his crush out to the final 8th grade dance of the year.

"Don't tell me what to do...

okay fine. I'll do it after lunch." A silent cheer is heard amongst the small group of boys

"Shh!" The 3rd period english teacher gets the attention of the boys

"Sorry!"

"Awsten honey, me and your father have to go away for a while. Stay home with Gracie tonight and order yourselfs a pizza, grandma will come by tomorrow with groceries" awstens mother says, hurriedly walking into the kitchen grabbing 2 duffel bags from inside a safe inside a cabinet next to the dish washer

"But mom! Me and Stacie had a date planned for tonight! We were going to the movies!" 9th grade awsten whines while face planting into the large sofa in the living room.

"Well, I'm sorry honey, someone has to stay and watch gracie"

"Mom I'm in 5th grade! I'm a big girl now, I can take care of myself." The young girl complains

"Gracie, Last time you said that we came home to a burnt microwave and a charred pizza pocket in the sink." The young girl folded her arms in defeat

"We have to go now. Bye kids, be good!" Awstens dad walks out from the kitchen after leaving a crumpled up $20 on the counter and kissing his pouty daughter on the forehead

"Bye my sweets! Awsten take care of gracie."

This was an often occurence for the Knight family. Parents would leave and Awsten was left in charge of his little sister

It wasn't always bad though, once awstens parents left on the 3rd of july leaving a $50 for some food and small fireworks.

Instead of buying food or small fireworks like he was told, awsten bought the largest firework $50 could buy. Gracie was mad at first, saying that they would die of starvation because of him, but after awsten showed her the $20 he had stashed away (plus some candy), she was all in.

Awsten resented his parents at first. Constantly saying that it was child neglect and that they should get a dog that could protect them.

His parents never did get him that dog.

After realizing how much good his parents were doing, he had a change of heart.

He idolized what his parents did as a profession and on his 16th birthday he decided.

"Happy birthday to you!" The group of relatives and friends sang to the boy

"Make a wish hon" awstens mother guided

I wish I will become at least half the agents my parents are

And with one swift breath, the candles with the numbers 16 were blown out

He still remembers his parents reactions to him telling them his dream profession

"I'm going to the agency just like you guys"

The small chatter and notices of utensils hitting plates stopped, and just like that. All eyes were on him

"That's great son!"
"Absolutely not"

His parents spoke at the same time

"No! He is not joining the agency! It's far too dangerous." His mother spoke towards her husband

"It would be a great opportunity for him to help people. He can handle it"

His mother sighed and placed her fingertips to her temples

"Fine. When you turn 18 next year you can go to training. Once you realize it's not what you want, we'll send you to college and never speak of it again"

A small cough was heard besides awsten

"Sorry, the Turkeys sorta dry" Gracie clears her throat

For the next year and a half Awsten worked hard to get his grades high enough to graduate a bit early and to make enough money to buy his first car

"She's a sweet ride aws" Geoff spoke, patting the roof of the car

"Yeah aws. We should take a road trip before you leave for college!" Otto added

Awstens friends didn't know about him skipping college and going to fucking spy camp, it would be a crazy thing to say. What would he even say?

Oh hey guys! Otto remember that time in like 2nd grade where I said my parents were spies? I wasn't kidding! Now I'm going to a camp for like 2 years so I can risk my life just like they did! Aha anyways now that I told you guys that, you're going to be in danger for the rest of your lives because you know a spy! Anyways have a fun life :)

That would be crazy.

He would miss his friends though. After the first week of training, they cut phone lines so there is no contacting the outside world.

Even though he would miss his friends greatly, he was excited for this next chapter in his life

"Shit guys I have to go home, I'll think about the road trip. See yall at the party tomorrow!" Awsten entered his new car and waved goodbye to his friends

Tomorrow was a big day for awsten. He would be graduating high school a few months early so he could do an early admission at the agency.

"Its been a pleasure to have you here these last 4 years Mr. Knight" Awstens principal shaked his hand while posing for a photo

Just like that. Awsten was free from normality. Next week he would fly out to training and his life would be changed forever.
