A dream was about to be destroyed or have its worth proved to this one girl. She was all dressed up her medium red hair perfectly flipped at the ends her eyes were bursting through her face. Which was beaming she spent two hours looking in a mirror making sure she looked perfect. Making sure her blue floral print dress was wrinkle free, the electric blue strap heels shinig just right. She wanted to shine perfectly because she knew tonight was her big time in the spotlight. Tonight was the night her dream finally became reality, she spent hours practicing the skills. She wanted to be drum major more than anything else in the world it was her dream, the reason she got up in the morning. Now she was sitting at a table with her close friends waiting. Waiting to celebrate, waiting to be crushed, waiting to end this sick twisted waitng game. The try outs didnt go perfect for her since she was shy and colapsed under pressure but she gave it her all. There was her downfall of course she was the only tuba and her grades werent all that great. Her passion for the band was endless and would gladly follow them to Her mind was racing all different thoughts hell and back, she never missed a single band function. The main issue was the new band director who only saw her as the tuba and nothing else he wanted her on that and that was it. He didnt understand her passion she was the only one in that band who still got goosebumps everytime she played or marched. To her the instrument she played didnt matter she could learn to play any of them in a week, she played tuba out of kindness. She knew they needed one since both graduated the previous year so she learned to love it even though it made her sick multiple times. It wasnt easy to play but she did, the old band director knew her and the real reason she made the switch. She knew exactly what made her tick and understood fully her passion but retired and she couldnt do much but an encouraging word. Her mind was racing all different thoughts then the director made the announcement she was waiting for and her mind went blank. The waiting was finally over she had a one in six shot but she knew she deserved it the most and was now on the edge of her seat. Then he said it, the two words that destroyed her, it was her best friend's name, her friend was the new drum majo. Her friendwas going to live her dream and she couldnt do anything about it. The feeling she felt at that moment was unlike any other in the world. She just gave a glance to her friend to her right and her strength melted away. As her friend was accepting her dream her other friend got up with her and held her as the walked towards the bathroom. Tears flowed down her cheeks and loud wails choked her but the band moms just ignored her like everything was all good. It was like being stabbed in the heart and having it ripped out all at once. Once they got inside she ripped off the perfect shoes and tossed them at the wall then ripped off paper towl and let out her heart. Saying it wasnt fair and he would regret it and cried as much as she wanted to. All she knew was band and it was her life now it was over like that. She hugged her friend and continued only relizing she had something hard to do. She had to tell her family she didnt get it but first thing was first she had to get away. Gathering up some composure she called her mom and told her to come and get her. The call lasted thirty-four seconds and it seemed like an hour. At the end she lost it again and different people came in and gave her some bs in the hopes of calming her tears. Her friend's mom even came in and freaked saying this was nothing and meant nothing but it was all in vain. Later her best friend came in wearing the whistle she asked if they were still friends. She freaked out she refused to let that band directors huge mistake kill an amazing friendship. She pulled her friend into a hug and told her that she would never blame her it was the band directors fault after all. Just then her mom pulled up and texted her she walked through the room with tude but the second she saw her mom she began again. She jumped in the car and hugged her then noticed her letter was inside but she no longer cared. For the rest of that year she lost all passion and hardly did anything. She hated that director for his decission but made the right choice. That was her last year in public school she went to cyber school and graduated with honors. Secretly though she never got over the devestation she felt that day. Everyone around her called dumb and told her she was acting stupid for being so upset. They didnt understand exactly how much that meant to her but she did pretend to forget though she didnt. Colledge was her second chance she went to the colledge with the best band. She would be apart of it and the best band in the country was the sining wolverine marching band the director noticed her skills and made them useful. She was put into lowbrass again on tuba but that was okay. Freshman year was spent working until sick literally proving her worth and passion. The director saw all of her hard work and was very impressed but wondered why she cared so greatly. So one day the director called her into her office and asked, she told the director her story and was more determined to make her second chance count. The director just nodded and dismissed her , that night marked a month until the tryouts she began work. Conducting was her worst area it was cutting off that messed her up but she counted measures this time. Constant work to get her dream back and prove her old director wrong was what she wanted and to show him shes important. With those being her fire she didnt sleep more than an hour or two a night until the tryouts. This was the big leagues now and her big time to shine and this time she felt it she strived under the pressure this time. The waiting period wasnt as bad as the first but it kept her awake at night. Finally it was time for the announcement this time she wore a firery red spaghetti strap dress with shining red heels. Her flame colored red hair was as straight as a line and her lips were red and she was on fire. The director announced it the same all do they say this person was perfect for the job blah blah blah. Then she threw a curve ball by saying this persons skills were not shown in the past. Her fingernails that were painted red were grinding the bottom of her chir her friends chummily elbowed her. Then the director announced,

"I have no doubt in my mind that this persons passion for this band burns brighter than her hair and outfit and I happily announce Miss Erin Zebler's dream just came true."

Smiling the director pointed at her who dressed as firey as her passion. The girl stood up at her name and was given a microphone but said only this,

"This is my redemption and I promise to continue to give this band all I have. Thank you for this."

The next day she marched to her old director and was surprised to see her first one there as well. She pulled him into his office and dangled her whistle in his face and said he made a huge mistake when he didnt call her name. Then continued to say that she was the drum major of the country's best band and laughed in his face as she left his office. She went to her first director and hugged her and promised that she would do her proud.

The End.
