Little Angsty
No WarningsDream's POV:
I shut my locker, after putting away my books and retrieving my lunch, glancing around nervously in search of a certain someone.
It's been two whole days since my crush took the love letter i wrote for him, and so now, on Monday afternoon, i am nervous to see sim again.
I'm starting to think he's avoiding me. Usually i see him in the mornings, studying in our homeroom class before school actually starts. We both come to school early, me to get some extra basketball practice in and my crush, I'm guessing to study. There must be a reason why he doesn't just study at home beforehand.
I haven't seen him today. He wasn't in homeroom this morning and he wasn't in our shared History class either.
What if he hates me that much he didn't come to school? No he wouldn't miss school for something as insignificant as that.
What if something has happened to him?
I quickly snap myself out of that thought process, making myself starting to worry even more.
He's okay. Probably just extremely late or something.
I reassured myself everything was fine with huge uncertainty.
I've been pretty much alone today so far. Nick had a dentist appointment not too long ago, so won't be coming in until later this afternoon. And my other friends were getting on my nerves. All everyone is talking about is tonight's basketball game against Hilltop High, our long-standing arch nemesis. I mean, i too am looking forward to thrashing them into the ground, but the rowdiness and excitement from the rest of my teammates is just overwhelming. Besides, I've been quite preoccupied looking for a certain chocolate-eyed cutie.
I sighed, feeling defeated that he was ever gonna show up. Suddenly, my eagerness for this evening's game dissipated.

Each lesson seemed to drag on longer than the last, and my head began to throb with boredom.
I just wanna go home.
"Hey Clay! I'm baaaaack!" Nick exclaimed as he shuffled down in his seat next to me. Huh, I didn't even notice him come through the door.
I gave him a side glance and a small smile in acknowledgment, turning back to the lecture, which seems to have been paused for whatever reason.
I felt a firm hand latch onto my shoulder, trying to turn my body. "Dude, are you okay?"
"Yeah, fine..." i mumbled in response, almost inaudible.
"You sure?" Nick asked, not convinced.
"I said, I'm fine." I spoke firmly, not even glancing in his direction.
"Okay..." I could see him lifting his arms into a defensive stance, before smacking his hands onto the table, causing our professor to give him a stern and displeasing look.
With a disappointed huff, i slouched further into my chair, paying absolutely no attention to our resumed lecture.
"The dentist was fine by the way," Nick muttered in annoyance.
"Yeah, thanks for asking," he continued.
I turned to give him a look that said 'seriously'. He shrugged his shoulders and lifted his eyebrows nonchalantly.
I stared at the same indent on our table, that someone had most likely made by stabbing a pen into the wood. I huffed again, thinking back to a specific brunette boy.
I just wanna know if he hates me or not...
I was shaken out of my thoughts by Nick whispering into my ear, "You excited for the game?" He asked, a playful smirk now on his face. "To be honest dude... I couldn't care less about the game right now," i spoke, signing into a frown.
"What?! This is the game of the year! What do you mean you couldn't care less?!" Nick whisper-shouted, each word increasing in volume. He looked utterly confused and thoroughly hurt, as though i had offended him in some way.
I stayed silent.
"Clay?! Answer me!"
"I'm sorry." I spoke with little effort.
"Dude, what the fuck!" Nick exclaimed.
I failed to notice our angered professor standing by our table until she slammed a book down in front of me. I jumped out of my depressing thoughts, earning a few snickers from some of my classmates.
"Boys! I am disgusted that you think it is okay to have your own conversation in my lesson. Nick, i do not condone that type of language either! Both of you, go to the principals office now!"
I sighed and shuffled out of my seat, irritated at Nick's behaviour. I shrugged on my bag and began to walk out the classroom door, turning briefly to see Nick glaring at me with a huge scowl on his face.
Oh great.
— —————
After what felt like 10 hours of our principal scolding me and Nick for "behaving inappropriately and extremely childish," as he said, and him giving us an appropriate punishment; detention, we were finally aloud to leave his office and go back to classes.
I pulled out my timetable to see how much suffering i would have to endure for the next forty-five minutes.
Maths.
Ugh boring, fuck that.
I turned around, planning to skip class and roam the hallways - which probably wouldn't end well and I'd land myself with another detention. I spotted Nick just leaning against the wall, a glum expression apparent on his face. I sighed, deciding i should apologise.
"Look, I'm sorry." I started, Nick's head shooting up at my apology. He was a sensitive guy, whether he admitted it or not, and he can be quite immature. If I didn't step-up and apologise first, he probably wouldn't speak to me until tomorrow. He opened his mouth, drawing in a breath as if he's about to say something, before closing it again and looking down.
"You know how i get sometimes and it's just... I don't know. All i can think about is him," i told him, explaining my actions earlier.
"No, dude it's okay. I should be the one saying sorry. I was being a Jerk-" he mumbled.
"Hardly," i cut him off.
"-no, i was. I'm just excited about the game tonight and all you've been going on about the last few days is him."
"Yeah..."
"I just wanna hang out with you, without you thinking about him every 5 seconds. You're my bro..." he offered a small, genuine smile.
"I get that. And i get that you're excited for the game, honesty i am too but, it's just... I haven't seen him since last Friday and I'm sure he's opened my card by now and so he knows i like him. I don't if he's ill, or has an appointment or something or just is avoiding me. What if something really bad has happened to him? What if he hates me?" I spoke swallowing down the growing lump in my throat.
"Clay, I'm sure he's fine."
"You don't know that."
"Okay, but... Just focus on the game. Worrying about him isn't gonna help. And we need our second-best player to be in the right mindset!"
"Second-best?" I questioned, feigning a look of betrayal and hurt with a hand placed over my chest.
"Yeah, second-best. I'm obviously the best," he answered, an evil smirk on his face.
"Oh, we'll see about that!" I exclaimed hitting him in the shoulder playfully before jogging off to the school's basketball courts.
"Oh, it's on!" nick shouted, chasing after me, his bag swinging over his shoulder as he ran.
Looks like we'll both be missing Maths. Haha, oops...
