Alpha Kane is a book about a 'weak weird nerdy' omega EmberYale who is rejected by her cold egotistical mate who happens to be the alpha's son Kane. While Kane seems like he is her only obstacle, she also struggles with her self worth. It's not easy to live in a world where you feel isolated from others but this is how Ember has lived most of her life until Kane has a change of heart.
As cliché as this sounds in the first few chapters there is no mention of Kanes minty breath or her height. In the prologue it does seem a bit cliche but as the story develops there are many unexpected twists and turns. You can tell by the quality of the plot line that the author has put in a lot of thought into the book. The writing style of the author is excellent and the story flows easily even though it is a slow read. The vocabulary is very fitting and the writer has a very good choice of words. I like that the book is descriptive and you can imagine the scenes in your head as you read but not too descriptive to the point of confusion.
The moment you read the first chapter you're transported into a supernatural world which was executed quite well and almost sounds realistic. Although this is a book about romance, fans of supernatural fiction will enjoy it because it's packed with a range of supernatural characters.
The plot and character development is really good. Ember starts off as a very shy and insecure person but as the story continues she reaches her potential. She brings the same strength and resilience she displayed in her fights into 'real life' situations. As a reader you are kept on your toes so much so that there isn't a point in the story when you can predict what's going to happen.
All in all this is a very good read even though I was trying to be Ms Critical I honestly couldn't find anything I dislike about the book. Even though it's fiction some of the themes are relatable in the real world i.e Embers low self worth. This book is a 100% worth it and won't be a waste of time. It's gotten really positive feedback from the readers and I rate it a 9/10.
