I woke up at 6:30, and immediatley started getting ready. Half way through, I realized that I was doing this all for a guy, and went back to my normal morning routine. I put my hair in a side fishtail, wore a red jersey that read 'Harlem', some cheap black leggings, and a new pair of black Lace-up wedge ankle booties. I never wore shoes other than converse, but thought 'oh what the hell!' When I got to the school, Jack was outside. He walked over to me and practically gave me a bear hug. At first I was uncomfortable, but then saw Lily staring at us, so I decided to embrace the hug amd hug him back. He broke away with a smile, and seemed very awake!
"Hey! I like your shoes." I was confused once again. "I tried coffee this morning, you know it's actually pretty good?" Oh. That explains it.
I laughed, then kept walking. He caught up to me and grabbed my hand. I awkwardly kept walking, all the way to class with our hands togther. Everyone was staring at me, which is when I realized he was popular, because it wasn't a weird thing to hold hands with someone at my school. We walked into class, but were forced to sit across the class from eachother because the majority of the class was already there. Half way through class, the blond kid I saw with him the day before tapped on my shoulder. Apparently he was sitting behind me. Our teacher wasn't paying any attention to us, so he introduced himself.
"Hi, I'm Jack, Jack's best friend."
"You're name is Jack, too? That's cute." I was so awkward.
"Yeah, anyways, this is frrom Jack." He passed me a peice of paper. I turned to Jack, smiling at me, embarrased. Today was an early day, so we oly had two more classes. The note read;
"Meet me on the left wing of the building after school?" I turned around and nodded with a smile. I was so excited and felt like I was in High School Musical or something. The next two classes were the longest ones of my life, but when they were finally over I rushed to left-wing. When I got there, there was nobody there. I texted Jack and he responded with, "Wait one sec." Was he mad? I didn't neccessaily know what was going on. About five minutes later, other Jack started walking towards me. I waved but he stayed dead straight. Right when he passed me, he said "I'm Jack."
"I-I know..." but he had already walked away. Next was a boy with a jawline that cuts metal and soft brown hair. I recognized this boy from the day Jack and I met.
"I'm Cameron," but he kept walking, too. One after another, boys from that day kept walking past me and introducing themselves with a straight face.
"I'm Nash."
"I'm Aaron."
"I'm Shawn."
"I'm Matthew."
"I'm Carter."
"I'm Taylor." I was so confused, and just sat still. Next, I saw a much more familiar face.
Jack was walking towards me with what looked like board games in his hand. I titled my head in confusion.
"And I'm James Bond." said Jack. I laughed, along with him. He sat down next to me, and looked down at his three boxes of board games. "Wait, what was all that?" I smiled.
"Well, honestly, I wanted to see if you'd look at any of them the way you look at me..."
"And did I no?"
"Not exactly. Anyway, I brought some games! And I want to make a little gamble with you." I raised an eyebrow in confusion. "So, I think that you can tell by now that I'm not just with you to make out with you, considering we've never kissed. And, I don't know if you've been counting, but I noticed that we've been-known-together-whatever we are, for three weeks. And I wanted to make a little game with myself."
"Keep talking," I offered very engaged in what he was saying, because in all honesty I wanted to smash into his lips right there and then. But for some reason I was just okay with waiting, and he knew that.
"You told me that you were good at Sorry, correct?" I nodded. "So, if I win, we kiss. If you win, we wait."
"Okay, you're on, Gilinsky." I was going to try and win, but I wouldn't be that torn if I lost either.
This game for nine year-olds got pretty intense. We were both ashamingly mean to eachother during the game, and very gutsy. Of course, Jack was winning, but when he realized he was, he stopped being as aggressive. I tried to fire him up again, but it was all just fake. Did he want me to win? I started trying to make him win, too, and the game got super boring.
"Do you want to kiss me?" Jack asked, I just kind of clenched my whole face and did nothing. His smile turned into a dead straight face. He leaned in, and I stood awkwardly still, nervous as to what's about to happen. His lips kissed mine as I felt him grin. I kissed him back, as he slowly fell on top of me. "So I guess the game is over?" I whispered. "I win."
