Xephos allowed his thoughts to wander as he searched his desks for his special, practically unused keycard. He had been waiting a long time, waiting for it to become dark out and for the scientists to retire for the night. He himself was tired, and he would close his eyes for a long time before shaking his head and returning to his search. Tonight, an old friend of his would move in with him, far away from Yoglabs.

Xephos pulled out the keycard triumphantly, hurrying outside his office/room. He had to make this quick, and he hoped his friend was still awake. He didn't really need to hope though; Lalnable never sleeps.

-----Xephos-----

I practically ran to the cloning area of my lab, clutching the keycard in my hand to the point I started to bleed a little. I looked at my bloodied hand; the scent would definitely wake him if he were resting, if not my alien heartbeat would. He always did tell me how often he wanted my heart, just to look at it and kill it whenever I fed him or forced medications down his throat, always getting nipped to see my blue blood.

As I turned a corner, I saw him, alert, staring directly at my loneliness, like a lion watching a sick and wounded gazelle. The only thing keeping him from trying to rip out my throat was a thick, layered glass. I broke my own rule, stepping towards the glass, lightly tapping. He flinched away like a fish would when you tapped at its bowl.

I stopped, walking quickly towards the door. I unlocked it, fumbling with the keys. He was looking at.his static screened t.v., when I looked at him. As soon as I reached for him, I felt hands around my throat. I struggled for breath, staring into his emerald eyes.

"Why are you here? To test on me? To finally kill me?"

I shook my head best I could, starting to see dark spots go over my vision. He released me then, letting me fall to my knees, gasping in air.

"Then why..?"

"T-to take... you home..."
