"Okay Ari, just one more step and we are almost there" said Amy.

Arianna heard the familar 'ding' of the elevator and she relaxed.

"Thanks again Amy, for this" she said softly.

"No problem" Amy said happily.

Arianna wondered want she would have done if God hadn't sent Amy Brooks her way. She knew exactly what her life would have been, but she'd rather not think about it. Her life wasn't exactly beautiful at the moment and thought of what it would look like now tha Amy would be off to college in another state in a few days.

Getting blind wasn't what she bargained for. She could deal with the constant verbal and physical abuse from her father, but this loss of vision was an inroad. She'd been blind for a couple of months now and had been trying to adjust to places. She knew her way around her home but not every other place and she had no help dog only her cane.

For all she could remember, Amy had short dark blonde hair that she cut into one of Rihanna's crazy hairstyles, but she looked decent. An oval face, dimples, blue eyes and a beautiful voice. Arianna loved when Amy sang for her, it gave her hope.

Hope that someday, she would have freedom from this shackles.

"We are almost there" announced Amy.

This day was one of those times that she'd been lucky to leave home without any troubles from Frank Velaquez, her father.

Arianna didn't know when the frustrations begun, she couldn't get her fingers around it. She wasn't sure if it was when they lost Paola to cancer, or when her father lost his job; but she sure remembered the late nights he started keeping. She thought it was the job he finally got after months of searching as a clerk for a local factory; then the bottles of beers started rolling in, the hangovers, the blood shot eyes and eventually the first time he laid his thick strong hands on her.

It was a beautiful Tuesday morning, she was at the kitchen island having breakfast after cooking for two. They usually ate together, but then it became her for a couple of weeks, not that she minded. Arianna was a quiet girl and she loved a serene environment.Unfortunately, that wasn't the case now.She had greeted her father and he grunted. That was strange, she thought, but she didn't take it to heart. He usually gave her a nod, or his lips formed a thin line, she took that as a smile.

After eating, she cleared the table but lost her balance and a glass of pineapple juice spilled on the table and some landed on his trousers.

He stood up and hit her.

Arianna paused. She stood dumbfounded, trying to apologise but she found herself stuttering. She cleaned the kitchen and left for school while some tears slipped from her eyes. The pain didnt go away till the next day.

She jerked back to reality as she felt a hand on her face.

"Ari, bad memories?" asked Amy.

Arianna nodded, she didn't know the tears were for real.

"Its ok darl'.Forget them at least for now, we are going to have a lot of fun.My mom made cookies and got you some new clothes. I also packed out a few of mine; and I will work on your har too. A little cut here and there should do and you will look amazing. Its alright, love" comforted Amy.

"Thank you,Ames"

" You are welcome. C'mon lets make you beautiful" she said happily.
Too bad, I won'b be able to see myself, thought Ari.
