“Oh, both of you look lovely! But can you two move a little closer to each other?”
A male voice echoed through the spacious hall due to the lack of people in the room. The man had a camera on one hand while the other instructed the newly married couple on how to pose for him.
He kept complimenting the pair on how great their chemistry was. Even though he had no idea this was only the second time they met with each other.
‘Do we actually look good together?’ Sakura thought as she stole a glance at the man beside her.
She would only lie to herself if she say she is not physically attracted to him. Chiseled jawline, brown caramel eyes. He fits the criteria of her dream man, much better than her bastard ex-boyfriend.
“Is there something wrong, Sakura?” Jaeha snapped her back to reality.
“N-nothing…” Both of them smiled at each other before continuing to pose for the photographer.
The two of them never expect things to move this fast, but life always throws its twists when you least expect it to.
FLASHBACK
Several months ago…
Sad music accompanied Sakura's slow sob. She fiddled with her phone while lifelessly laying on the bed.
‘Why did he cheat on me? Am I not enough for you Jungshik-ah?’
She scrolled down her gallery with teary eyes as she went through their photos together. The time she spent with her now ex-boyfriend was all left in vain. Their plan to get married was wiped out of existence.
The more she explored her photos, the more anger built up inside her. Not wanting to dwell in the past, she quickly marked all of his photos and hit delete.
"Screw him Sakura-ya! You're charming!" She tried to cheer herself up. "Getting guys should be easy!"
Sakura opened a dating app that she installed earlier. She started browsing people's profiles and looked for any guys that might attract her. As she was scrolling down, a profile caught her attention.
"I am a twenty-four year old male seeking for a woman to immediately become my wife…" she continued to read his profile. “Tch~ are you looking for an employee or something?"
She scoffed at the profile before locking her phone and throwing it on the nightstand. The man's idea was just crazy. Marrying someone without knowing and loving the significant other, only an insane person would do that.
‘But it also means I can get married soon… and forget about him… right?’ Sakura picked up her phone and opened the profile again. ‘Fine whatever… Just get me out of this situation…’
END OF FLASHBACK
“Jaeha-ssi can you please kiss Sakura’s forehead,” the photographer said.
“A-a kiss is kinda…” Sakura bit her bottom lip, feeling shy at the fact that they need to do this in front of the man and his assistant.
“It’s okay, I’ll just pretend to kiss you,” Jaeha turned to face her and leaned forward. Enough to just hover his lips in front of her forehead.
“Aigoo don’t be shy… Please, much closer~” The man in front of them kept pressuring the pair.
“Closer~ closer~” Jaeha hugged her.
“You can kiss her for real Jaeha-ssi~ Yes yes~”
Not wanting to drag this any longer, Jaeha leaned in and kissed Sakura on the forehead. As soon as his lips made contact, a fury of shutter noise could be heard coming from the camera.
Jaeha pulled away from Sakura after what felt like an infinity of seconds, his lips automatically curved into a smile when his eyes met with her's. At that moment both of them chuckled at each other, showing genuine reaction to each other’s awkwardness.
‘Did I just laugh naturally?’ Both of them thought at the same time.
The two felt comfortable for the first time since they met. Sakura's smile brought warmth to Jaeha as they kept looking at each other with his hands tightly gripping her arms.
At that moment something sparked inside him. It's the feeling of needing to take care of the woman in front of him. She was the one who agreed to get involved with his problem without asking questions. The least he could do is take care of her well-being.
'Can our loveless marriage work out?...'
----------
Sakura felt amazed when she scanned the living room of her new home. She was organizing a few things she bought to decorate the apartment, she carefully aligns a few scented candles next to each other before lighting one up.
“Want to take a break?”
She turned around and saw her husband with two plastic bags in his hands.
“I bought some food for us,” he lifted up the bags and showed her.
“Sure.”
The two went to the dinner table and prepare their food, they sat opposite of each other, avoiding each other’s eyes while trying to make things less awkward. Jaeha took the first move and ate his food first before Sakura joins him.
“T-this is a great apartment you got…”
“I know a very good real estate agent…”
“Ah… well, it does give off a marriage vibe. I like it...”
Jaeha smiled after hearing her words, knowing that she likes it gave him a small winning feel. As expected, life as a married couple without love is naturally quite awkward. Especially when both of their parents didn’t know they are married yet.
“I’m sorry… I just want to escape from my past,” Sakura spoke. “I wonder what will my parents think about this decision.”
“Just take it as you making a new start for yourself. Isn’t it a good thing you didn’t marry a man who cheats on you?” Jaeha asked her.
“Yeah, you are right,” she smiled sheepishly.
They weren’t in a romantic relationship, but Jaeha made sure that he won’t hurt her. They didn’t know what’s to come for their marriage but the important thing was to focus on the things that were happening right now.
