"Your neighbors say they saw him enter your house a little abruptly and he never came back out. This was his last location" the officer said, glaring at me.
My leg was slightly shaking and my hands were getting sweaty.
"He did come by and we had been arguing earlier that day and he didn't leave until the next morning. He snuck out the back door since my mom didn't know he was here and she's always up early" I lied.
He jotted down in his notepad.
"And you sure you haven't heard from him since?"
"I'm positive" I said.
"We'll be in touch. Again, let us know if you hear from him" he said. I nodded.
They walked out the house and I closed the door behind them.
I haven't slept in 3 days. Everytime I close my eyes, I see his body. Him just laying there, lifeless.
I went in the bathroom and washed my face, rinsing it off with warm water.
"You can't get rid of me" I heard a voice behind me. I quickly looked up in the mirror, startled.
I looked around me. Nobody was there.
I shook it off and turned the shower on, taking my clothes off and tying my hair up.

"I mean, think about it. He ain't even tell his side of the story yet. How we know he really shot her inna foot?" Jada asked, eating some sour patch kids.
"It was on video, Jada" Miara added.
"Even if he did, they going around saying she was abusing him so what if they was fighting? She look strong as hell" Jada said.
"That still don't give him the right to shoot her" I said.
"You should be the last one talking about fighting and shooting, my love" Miara said, laughing.
I smacked my lips. "Shut up" I said.
We were sitting on my front porch. We had just come from the corner store not too long ago.
"But what y'all doing today?" Miara asked.
Jada shrugged, "Ion know. Y'all tryna go see Boomer and nem?"
"No" I immediately said.
Jada smacked her lips, "Nini, pleaseeee" she pleaded.
"Y'all know ion wanna see that boy right now" I said.
"You can kick it with me and Joe" Miara said.
"I'm not finna third wheel with y'all nasty asses" I scrunched my face up.
