I look up to see the same white walls staring back at me. The same blank, blindingly white walls. I slowly rise form where I awoke. Looking down at the usual orange jumpsuit. The bright orange fabric stuck to my body like a second skin. So many times I've tried to take it off, though it seems to be glued to my body.
Just like always, I begin to pass the time until this all ends. I pace back and forth, acting as if I'm walking on a tight rope. Count all 20 ceiling tiles, over and over. After I can't amuse myself any longer, I lay on my back and close my eyes. I play out imaginary scenarios in my head. I've found this helps time go by fastest. I think about school, about my friends, winning an argument with my parents.

I open my eyes to still find the same ceiling squares. "How much longer?" I think. I roll over on my stomach and start to play with a ball of fuzz on the floor. Rolling it back and forth, from finger to finger. "Uhm ... Hello?"
What was that? I've never heard anything like that in here. Come to think of it, I've never hear anything but my own thoughts in here. I cautiously look up to find a girl sitting on the other side of the room. She wears a jumpsuit like mine, though hers is a dark blue. She cocks her head to the side, "Thought you were dead for a second there. Something must be really interesting up there." she points to the ceiling, a small grin on her lips. I'm at a loss for words. How did she get in here? There aren't any doors or windows. Why would she come in here? I'm nothing special.
"You gonna introduce yourself, or just stare?" I noticed we haven't broke eye contact at all. I clear my throat, it feels like I haven't spoken in ages, but I manage to piece together a few words. "I'm ... E-Eli" I trip over my words and feels my cheeks warm with embarrassment. The girl giggles, and covers her mouth with her hand. My whole face is now red. She lowers her hand, still smiling. "Well hello, Eli." she now extends her hand "I'm Paisley" I look at the gesture for a moment. Then I raise my own hand, I can feel it shaking slightly. I limply grasp her hand. She gives on good, hard shake, and then places her hand back in her lap. I let my hand fall to the floor in front of me, with a small thud.
"Okay then ... I'm gonna go over here, and you can go back to what you were doing." she gets up, and watches me as I watch her walk over to the corner of the room. I toll back over, staring at the ceiling. I close my eyes, and start to ponder everything that has just happened. "How could this happen?" I start to think. "Why-" a ring blares into my ears, and my eyes flick open.
