chapter eight

I hurry back to our apartment to drop off papa,I meet Tobi at the door,he explains he went to the school and didn't find Kachi,I begin to panic,immediately I run back to the school after ordering Tobi to give Papa something to eat,how on earth can Tobi say he didn't find Kachi,I don't waste precious time trying to question him on how he checked,I just go to the gates and check to see it's locked I move over to the second gate and peep through it's not totally locked cause it's bolted on the inside,I start banging and notice the lights are still on in some rooms,I continue banging the gates and I remember I left my phone at home,I would have called aunty stella,I'm really confused if I should go back home or wait at the gates it's about six o'clock now,the sun keeps retreating slowly to sleep, terrified,I try not to think of the worst,but my brain keep thinking negative,my lips start to feel really dry,and my palms begin to sweat,i start biting the wall of my cheeks.

I hear movements then footsteps,the gate opens,and the short gateman opens the gate a scowl on his face,he eyes me up and down then gives a look of recognition,

"Aunty wetin happen,you no come pick Bobo?"

"Good afternoon sir"I hurriedly say checking behind him to see any sign of a small,fair boy,but none,he too turns to see what I'm looking at,

"Sir please I'm really sorry I couldn't pick him,where is he,I'm ready to pick him now" I say, agitated.

"Them carry am commot oh"

"Ehh??,who carry him commot?"I shout , placing my hands on my head,who now has carried my baby oh,aye mi!

Before he has an opportunity to answer,a black Jeep pulls over,he points at it,

"They done come oh,thank God"he laughs"this one wey your eye done start dey red",I eye him,but he doesn't see it,who carried my beloved brother,to where?,see this man fah,if he was in my position I can imagine how confused he would be,I look and see Gabriel seated at the passengers sit he motions for the gate man to close the gate cause they aren't entering in,the gate man keeps bowing his head to greet them in every two seconds until Gabriel squeezes something in his hand and waves him off,I guess money,he thanks them and goes back into the gate, I still can't fine kachi,the glasses are tinted,I keep waiting,the cold starts coming over my skin,

Victor comes down from the drivers sit and faces me leaning on the bonnet,of the car,he smiles and waves

"So you forgot Kachi here abi?"
He smiles,I have to return the smile,but my heart keeps beating where did they keep my brother,he starts counting with his fingers,
"For four hours how much do you pay to a day care?"he ask

"I'm really sorry,I had something to do I didn't think I would come back this late,I couldn't even communicate with my brother,because the network was terrible,I'm so sorry, please where is he?, can I now take him home?"

"Yeah,but he is sleeping."

So that's why I didn't see him,and they didn't think it wise to tell me with the way I was worried,the silence becomes awkward,I just feel like setting my eyes on my brother,I can imagine how hungry he would be right now,

Gabriel is still seated in the car,a bored look on his face,

"Hop in let's get you home"Victor moves to the drivers seat,my foot is still rooted to the floor,

"Don't worry I'll just carry him,thank you"

"Really?, you are scared or what?,we've been with Kachi for over four hours now,so hop in"he replies not giving me a chance to argue,

I move over,open the door to the car and enter,it's so warm and cozy,with the place getting dark I can't really make out the features of the car,I see Kachi lying at the back seat he has a blanket over him,he looks so peaceful I rub his head and he moves slightly with the impact of the touch,I face forward to see four eyes looking at me,
