Just to be clear, this text will include a lot about myself, the author, since I'm the only one who knows everything about my own experiences and points of view.

Now to start off with, repetition. If you go to many different sorcerers, you'll hear the same things about the basics. Many will take their own thoughts and little personality quirks that will help things sink in or they'll reveal new information. The reason everyone says to research and start slow, is parallel to the "real" world. In the mundane, there are sunny days and rainy one's, and the same goes for magick.

Not every spell works out, nor will they ever be instantaneous. The universe holds spells and intentions, it manifests, but that takes time. Patience is vital. Don't be discouraged if a small spell doesn't work after months of biding time, try again.

No one, and I mean no one, is born a "witch" or sorcerer. Witchcraft is not genetic. On the other hand, anyone can have an affinity with magick or they're drawn to it at a young age.

Then, there's the matter of what's out there in the magickal world, lurking. I will talk about more in future chapters, but it's best to leave deities, spirits, the fey especially, demons, angels(if you believe in them), dryads, nymphs, elemental spirits, and so on alone until you research extensively or at least until you feel you have a good grasp on customs they follow as not to anger them.

Then there's the matter of good and evil magick; there is no difference. Magick is, in essence, nature. Would you call nature cruel? Yes. But evil? Not in the slightest. Magick is a tool, it only mimics the intentions of who's wielding it. Like hypnotism, it isn't good nor is it evil, it's merely a tool and depends on how it's used.

Before you try a spell, take up some meditation. Listen to relaxing music, do a guided meditation, do breathing exercises; whatever works for you. Center yourself and bond with the earth.

Don't focus on the little details, spells and rituals don't need to be elaborate to work.

Don't get too wrapped up in what "type of witch" you are. Definitely research them, but don't dwell. They're only titles, and you can be mixed or simply avoid using the titles like I do.

Always ask to do a spell for someone before executing it.

You don't need to believe in everything experienced people or friends believe in. You choose what you believe in. Don't be afraid if someone judges, it's your belief and no one else's. If someone tries to throw logic in your face, don't cower and question yourself, instead pity the notion that they didn't have people to encourage them with something like this. Pity the fact that they've been hurt by something like this before. It's not their fault, but at the same time, don't back down from your own beliefs because someone doesn't approve.

This is a very serious matter, and a bit mature but everyone should know about it. If you're in a coven or you have a teacher who tells you to do something you're deeply uncomfortable with, say NO. If they say it's in order to learn the next lesson, to move up in ranks, initiation, et cetera. Say NO. What I mean by "deeply uncomfortable" is a coven leader or teacher telling you to have sex with them or someone else. If for initiation you're told to be nude or do something else that you're not comfortable with, that's what I mean.

On the other hand, if you feel safe and you're fine with initiations or lessons that are sexual in nature, that's completely fine too. I'm only telling those who aren't comfortable with this, that they have the right to say no.

As you can see, this book will be no nonsense and blatant. I will warn beforehand for those who don't want to know about it or they feel uncomfortable with it. Those are completely valid reasons. Now that you know about how this book will continue, I will explain why magick isn't always the answer to everything.
