There was an online forum dedicated to examining and discussing religious and Christian groups they deemed fundamentalist. While the group was not only for those who were not religious but they were skeptical of orthodox believers. They did not like that parents pushed their faith in their kids.
They liked to post clips of churches and they like to discuss them. A poster known as a female commando made such a post. "Hey everyone. Check this out. Morrison Baptist Church. " she said. She sent a link.
Foundation baptist church was an independent fundamental baptist church in Morrison. The Church was a church plant. It was founded by pastor matt burton. Burton had worked construction. Burton never went to Bible college. He had attended fundamental Baptist churches. He started the church seven years earlier.
The church was King James only. Most of the church members dressed up. Most ladies wore dresses or skirts but some. ladies wore pants. They believed in separation. They did have a contemporary praise and worship team.
The members of the fundy watch, as they called themselves, combed the church's website. They were eager to deconstruct this group.
The group carefully looked over the website. They looked for anything that was out of the ordinary. They hoped to find something they could scrutinize over. A forum member named "m.s columbo" was looking at the site when she found something she deemed bizarre.
She posted the pic of the family. There was a picture of the pastor, his wife Katie and his son will, daughters Lindsey and Kenzie and Chrissy. Katie was clearly pregnant. The website revealed that she was pregnant with twins.
The pastor had been married before he maried Katie. The pastor had been a widower. His first wife died in a car accident. Will, Lindsey, and Kenzie were from his first marriage. Chrisy was their child they had together.
A poster commented, "you notice that it all the pictures, Katie looks kinda scared.even in the pictures where she is smiling, the smiling seems forced. "
"I was thinking the same thing," another commentator said. "Her smiles do seam forced. " the commentator added. "Do you think she is unhappy?" A comment or asked. "Something is up!" Another said.
The forum members wanted to get to the bottom of it. They started with the church website. The official biography says that the pastor met Katelin a few months after his first wife died. What the forum members found odd was that the website usually had minute details of everything yet it was very cryptic on how he met Katelyn. There were exhaustive details on how he met Leah his first wife.
"Ok. Is it me or is something weird about how the pastor met Katie? It is so vague where we know the color of the glass used to poor wine on his first date with Leah. "A commentator said. " this is sketchy. Something is definitely up. "Another said.
They looked at her social media page. On her first wedding anniversary, she made a post." A year ago I married my best friend. He is the kindest sweetest man I know. The first time I met him, I never thought he would so impact my life" she said. Again no details we're given.
"I got something you not going to believe! " a member called stone cold 40 said this. "Her second-anniversary post is identical to her first.word for word. i am pretty sure that this was cut and pasted. That's not all. Her original post is copied. It's a word for word from her sister Megan's first-anniversary post. The whole post was ripped.
She posted the post from Megan. She included the time stamp. It was over a year from Katie's post. " a year ago I married my best friend. He is the kindest sweetest man I know. The first time I met him I never thought he would so impact my life."
On her page, she posted music videos, sermons, recipes, tv show quotes, etc. All.of.her post about her and matt we're canned..they were vague. They were void of passion. Yet her other post was full of passion. She was a deeply thoughtful person. That was not the case with Matt. She wrote about how much she loved her sister for example. She said of Matt, "he is great." She said of her sister Ashley." ash is my friend, my encouragement .my cheerleader. She makes me laugh .she won't let me quit. " usually she posted paragraphs.when it came to matt it was quick. Some wondered if she wrote it.
Then they noticed that there were no posts about her engagement. There were no pictures of her engagement to Matt. No newspaper article of there engagement. There was no wish list. There was no wedding pictures or honeymoon. All that was posted was the profile change. It said Katelyn got married.
There was no wedding pics on matt's social media page. Matt had multiple pictures of his and Leah's wedding. Every minute detail forms his first wedding was depicted. The forum members looked at comments. "Kate, your maried? I did not realize you were involved with anyone. " her mom said.
"Wait her parents did not know?" A commenter asked. "Did they have a traditional wedding?" Another asked. "There are no wedding pics on either of there social media pages. " another said. "Something is up. No wedding pics whatsoever. " another said
They found the church announcement of the pastor's nuptials. "Pastor Matt has maried Katelyn eliot..the two were maried in a private ceremony." "I am thinking they were married by a justice of the peace." A forum member said. "Why get maried by a justice of the peace? Why not tell anyone? Why no pics? " a commenter asked. "Did they meet and mary in Vegas? "One asked. " could this be a shotgun wedding?" Another suggested."i did the math on the birth of there daughter Chrissy. Her conception was well after there wedding. If they were naughty, it did not produce a child." a commenter said.
"Pastor Matt, a good fundy, being naughty no never," a snarky commenter said. "Maybe not intercourse but maybe they were naughty. " someone else suggested.
"You're not going to believe this. I found a post near when Katie and the pastor got maried. It was from her cousin gina. ' anyone hears from Katelyn? It's been days. that's not like her. I usually talk to her multiple times throughout the day. ' her chimed in. 'I talked to Katie, she is fine. she got maried. They maintained radio silence for a while.'"
There were other people who wondered where she was. "So.she disappears off the face of the planet. She comes back to maried?" A commentator remarked. "I have combed through both of there pages, there is no reference to each other before the wedding announcements. It like they never met before. " someone suggested. "Seriously I am beginning to think that they did not meet prior to there nuptial." Stone cold 40 said.
"Is this they meet and it was true love or something else?" Gainfully enjoyed asked. "Given Katie has gone stoic Vulcan, I don't think it was true love. " hazy field said. "I agree. What happened?" Dizzy mind asked. "I have a really out-there theory. What if the pastor matt kidnapped Katie and forced her to mary him." Grinderbake remarked.
"It's the only thing that makes sense." Stone cold 40 said. Someone on the group posted this theory on the church page. It was out there now.
