Julie Anne was no monster. When it came to monsters, she was espically protective of her daughter, Amy. Amy had expierienced enough monsters to last her life because of her father. But when the monsters were out of hand, Julie Anne was not able to handle it.

"Amy, are you still awake?" Julie creeked Amy's bedroom door open. Poor Amy was only eight.

"Yes, mommy." Amy replied.

"Did you check for monsters, mommy?" Amy asked Julie.

"Yes, Amy." Julie replied. The tears had creeped down Julie's chin.

"Did you see anything?" Amy asked. It was a moment before Julie could swallow the lump in her throat to reply.

"Goodnight, Amy." Was all she could say. She closed the door.

"Mommy?" Amy whispered. Julie propped a chair aginsed the doorknob and sat next to it. She waited for the screams and once they came, the tears came harder and Julie Anne covered her ears.

About an hour later, they stopped. Julie took the chair away from the doorknob and slowly opened the door.

"Amy, are you awake?"

"Not anymore, Mommy."
