In the beginning there was chaos, and darkness, and screaming, and fear. Constant fear. It started with one of the South American countries. Venezuela. Peru. One of the small ones, with mountains. We all took notice, but only notice so far as to categorize it as one of the constant, escalating global catastrophes.
Egypt followed. Italy was next. The world erupted into chaos, and nowhere was safe. We didn't know what they were searching for. We didn't know who they wanted.
We remember it as the day our lives on Earth came to an end.
We remember it as the day humans were forced into the stars.
