Living upstairs meant that kate was the one who opened the cafe's doors every morning,so after making the decision of telling linda and joe about the baby,she went to do her morning chores before the opening of the cafe.

not too long joe and linda came and begin making those croissants that make the cafe so popular in the area.

"hum Linda"kate said" i have to tell joe and you"

"ok dear,we will talk later,but for now let's attend to our costumers"said linda

"ok" replied kate.

the rest of the day seemed slow to kate who couldn't wait to get this secret out of her chest,praying they would be understanding of her situation.

after they cleaned and closed the doors,they all went to sit in the kitchen,kate make coffee for linda and joe and sat on the opposite chair in front of them.

"well dear,what have you so worked up?"asked joe

"you know,whatever you want to say you can go ahead"added linda.

"i...." begin kate,twisting her fingers nervously" i...,i'm pregnant".

she closed her eyes,waiting for the storm to come.

Linda laughed softly,placing a hand on kate's

"it's not a secret,dear,we knew that all along"

kate jerked her head up,eyes wide at the news,looking at them

"you...,you knew?!!" she asked

"of course we knew,all those morning sickness that you had and your intolerance to certain smell" said linda to her,joe shaking his head approving her

"you didn't say anything?" asked kate

"Kate,you are like the child Joe and i never had,we knew since the first day you came here to look for a job that something had happened to you that make you looked like a bird with broken wings,we just didn't say nothing because it wasn't our place to ask,when you were ready,you would be opening up to us" said linda

tears filled her eyes at the kind words

"i guessed it's time now that i tell you my story" she said

"you don't have to if you don't want to" said joe

"no,i want to, i think it's time" she replied

taking a deep breath she begin to tell about how her parents died,she moved to london,to find a job,

being thrown out of her appartment,and finally her meeting with christian.

she skipped some details but told them about paris,how she fell in love with the man,but only to find

out that the feelings weren't mutual and that christian was in fact the father of her unborn baby.

"i'm not judging your choices kate,but he is the father,he has the right to know"said joe

"it's true kate,you cannot deprived him of his rights or your baby of his dad"added linda

"i...,i know,i'm just not ready to face him yet" said kate with a little voice
