12: The Titanium Ninja

((I have made some major editing in the first three books so those of you who have read before today, 1-7-15, should at least looked at them or you can figure it out as you read the coming chapters, the ending of this one has also been changed. If you have read after today, again 1-7-15, then you have nothing to worry about.))

The metal eating bugs swarm around us. Kai blasts them with his fire, Cole shoots them down with little rocks like bullets, Jay electrocutes them, Zane freezes them, Lloyd blasts them with orbs of energy, and I can merely slice them to pieces by using vines as whips.

"These bugs just keep coming out of nowhere!" Kai says, pointing out the obvious.

"It looks like we're never going to get off this rock." Jay says into his headset in his space suit. "I'm sorry Nya, any last words for me my darling?"

"Oh, I know." Cole says. "How about, 'It's you Cole, it's always been you. I won't be able to carry on without you.'"

I roll my eyes. "How about some ideas to get off this thing." I say gesturing to the comet we are standing on.

"Leray's right." Nya says, her voice crackling over the headsets of the space suits. "There isn't time for that. There must be some way to get you guys back to Ninjago."

"My dad was right." Lloyd sighs. "I should have never given up my golden power. We could have all been home by now. Now the Over Lord has all he needs to become the golden master."

I look over at him, lashing out at bugs, and before I can say anything Garmadon says through the headsets, "Don't say that. I was the one who was wrong. You must trust your friends and trust yourself."

"The nindroids have returned with the golden weapons." I can hear Pixal say. "It's only a matter of time."

Then Sensei speaks up. "Search for the power within, and then realize the greatness within each other."

"He's right." Lloyd says turning around to face us. "We can get off this plant."

"Right." I say. "How about some ideas."

"What about using your green power Lloyd?" Cole asks.

"No." Zane says.

"It's to far." I add. "He won't be able to hold his focus that long."

"No one happens to have a 'build your own rocket' kit handy do they?" Cole sighs. We have now all stopped at attacking the bugs.

"That's it!" Lloyd cries out.

Jay steps forward. "You have a 'build your own rocket' kit?!"

"No, but we can make one." Lloyd runs up to the eaten rocket. "Arcturus may not be able to fly anymore, but it can give us the supplies we need to make one. And Zane and Leray know the solar system better than any of us."

I nod once in agreement. "And don't forget my vines are fireproof and really strong, they can withstand entering the earth's atmosphere so we can use them to hold the ship together."

"And Kais fire can weld the missing parts." Zane says looking up at Kai.

Kai looks down to Cole from where he is standing on the broken spaceship. "Cole's manpower can do the heavy lifting."

Cole looks over at Jay beside him. "And Jay has enough electricity and nerd knowledge to make a halfway believable spacecraft."

"Thank you." Jay says, then he realizes Cole's exact words. "Hey." Then it all comes together in his head. "Hey.... This could actually work!"

I jump down from where I was standing on the broken ship. "Not 'actually work' it will work!"

Kai jumps down and lands beside Cole and Jay. "Then let's fire this thing up and see if she'll fly."
