We sat in our VERY large bunker, our dad prepared his whole life for this. The zombies outside killed our friends and family, I sat in one of the top levels of our bunker, our game room. While my sister Cassy sat in the kitchen, making some cookies. we were the only ones left in our town. We couldn't save the others, we couldn't even save our mother.
"Kyra, the cookies are done, want some with milk?" Cassy called out as she walked into the gameroom with a plate of cookies, and two cups of milk. "we need to go look around town in a while, we may find some people. And kill some zombies."
"ok, once we finish the cookies and milk?" I asked, smiling up at her, drinking my milk, and putting my cookies in my pocket. "get the stuff ready, and we'll head out."
"hurry, pack light" Cassy said, smiling as she ran out of the game room, and I followed. I took the plate and cups back to the kitchen, before grabbing my messenger bag. Putting a few hand guns and many clips into it, along with a few bottles of water. "ready?"
"yea, lets go. We going to follow the same plan as always?" I asked, smiling at my older sister. "I hope we find someone, its getting boring here. Wait, let me do my make up, you never know who we will find."
"OK, i'll do mine too." Cassy smiled, as we both went to our rooms, mine on the bottom floor, her's on the next floor up, right above mine, with a phone line between the two. Once we where both done, we went back up to the front door of our bunker. pulling my hair up, i tied it on both sides of my head, in small pigtails. "ready?"
"ready!" I said holding my AK47 up, and Cassy held up her shotgun. "lets go, we need to get anything we can."
We followed our plan, the one we put together before the zombies. We moved along the buildings slowly watching for any sign of movement. we checked the farthest from out bunker first, we had ten places where we wrote on the walls. 'there are still two alive, we check for others every two days. please, if you wish to have a home, stay here or follow the arrows. We hope to see you soon. love Cassy and Kyra.'
"hey cassy, what if we're the only two left. what if we never find any other people?" i asked, looking around the corner. Stopping as I seen some people. "Cassy, never mind, theres people here."
"How many are you?" Cassy yelled after she looked around the corner, "Answer me, or I'll start shooting."
"there's seventeen of us." a male voice came from the front of the group. "are you Cassy and Kyra?"
"yes, we are. and you?" I asked as I walked out from behind the building, smiling at the men and women standing before us.
"I'm Arron, this is Andy, Breanne, Seth, Amy, Steve, Cory, Hannah, Nicki, Holy, Mick, Maria, Randy, and Koby. the children are Minnie, Lee and Tyler" the male voice said again. "We're glad to see there are others who survived."
"well, Arron, if you all don't mind, we need to go check the other check points, we don't want to leave anyone out here longer then need be." I said, smiling at them. "please follow us, and try to stay out of view. We don't want any of those things to hurt any of you, now do we?"
"Kyra! be nice, you know these people are most likely tired, they look like they haven't had any sleep in days." Cassy said, smacking my arm. "now please, we do need to hurry."
The people followed us, slowly we moved to check the other points. making sure to check for anything we may need. After a half hour of searching the town we headed back to the bunker. The only truly safe place in town. We showed them around, and gave the children rooms.
"we're going to have a meeting. kids, you can go take a nap, and when you wake up, i'll make sure to have some nice hot food ready OK?" i asked them as Cassy took the adults to the 'family room'. "and maybe we'll even have some ice-cream afterwards."
The kids smiled, going into the rooms given to them. i smiled before heading up the stairs and into the living room, where everyone waited. I smiled as i walked in, knowing these people haven't seen very many friendly faces since the first bite.
"OK, first off, I'm Cassy, and this is my younger sister, Kyra. this is our home. we have enough stuff to keep everyone feed for a year or two, maybe even more. You are welcome to leave when you like, but you must tell us before, we will give you some supplies. And we ask, if you leave please do not come back, you will not be welcome." Cassy said, her face showing no sign of lying. "now, if your tired i will show you your rooms. If your not, Kyra will be making us some lunch, you may help her, or go into the game room."
"there's a few rules in the game room. no getting on the orange computer. no getting on the black computer with three screens. porn is a no no, unless your in the back room. and no eating at the games." I said smiling at everyone. "now, for the house rules. 1, no sex outside your bedrooms. 2, while outside your room you must be fully dressed. 3, if you have sex please be quite, there are children. 4, please, unless your over the age of 16, no sex. 5 guns must stay on safety at all times within the bunker. 6, no cursing outside your bedrooms. 7, don't waste anything. 8, stay out of my things. and last but not least, for now anyway, stay out of Cassy's stuff."
"any questions?" Cassy asked smiling at everyone. "no, OK. please follow me to your rooms, would you like your own rooms, or would you like to pair up?"
"we'll Miss Cassy, most of us are married, only Koby and Cory may want their own rooms. Where are the children's rooms?" Maria asked, smiling up at Cassy, who was a inch or so taller then Maria.
"the children's room is right here, for now." Cassy said slowly opening a door to show maria that all three children were laying on a large bed, sleeping. "there are eighteen rooms made for children. now, please, this floor and the next one down are bedrooms, you may choose which one you want."
"OK, i'm going to go cook, is everyone ok with some fried chicken?" I asked smiling at everyone, getting nods from everyone. "ok, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and fried chicken. Oh I almost forgot gravy."
"Oh, Kyra, we need to make a run into the next town soon. There could be some horses, or cows, maybe people." Cassy said as i started to walk away. "ok?"
"yea, i'll go tomorrow." I said, smiling as I ran back up the stairs and to the kitchen of our lovely home. I started to make potatoe's and chicken. i stopped as i heard someone sigh. "can i help you?"
"I want to go with you tomorrow." a male voice said as i turned around. "I'm Koby by the way. do you want any help?"
"if you want. how long has it been since you guys had a good hot meal?" he seemed to stop and think, its been 2 months since the first zombie.
"its been years since i had a home-cooked meal. more or less 2 months for the others." Koby said, smiling at me as he sat down, and started on the potatoes. "its been so long since I've gotten the chance to have a peaceful sleep."
"you don't have to help me. I'm doing this to welcome you all. Starting tomorrow, there will be shifts doing everything. even the children will have some jobs to help with." I said looking over at koby. "you do have a full camo outfit right or, should i find you something?"
"i have what i have on, and another pair of jeans." Koby said. "we all need some clothes, we lost more of ours."
"OK, i'll show you too the 'store' once i get the food cooking." I said, smirking as I put the potatoes on the stove, and the chicken in the oven. "ok, go get everyone, and i'll show you where the 'store' is."
"ok," he said, smiling and leaving to get the others.
