Ronan watched as the love of his life, Anna, colored a picture of unicorn. She was gently coloring the mane purple, occasionally pushing her short blond hair out of her face. Ronan couldn't describe how much he loved his daughter, amidst all of the pain in his life, she was his shining star.
"Dad, look at this beautiful unicorn I made!" Anna startled him out of his thought to see a picture of a purple and blue unicorn in his face.
"Oh Honey, its beautiful! You are truly the little artist aren't you?" Anna broke into a huge smile that reached into her sparkling blue eyes, just like her mother... A knock on his door startled his moment with Anna. When Ronan opened his apartment door a man was standing there. The man instantly made Ronan feel on edge and he moved his body to block the stranger's sight of Anna, he did not trust this man. He had amber eyes that were starkly contrasted by his dark skin and bleached blonde hair. The man smirked at Ronan before extending his hand out to him. He took it and gave the mystery man a firm handshake.
"I'm looking for Ronan Moore, is he here?"
"I am Ronan Moore." Ronan crosses his arms and puts himself on the defensive.
"Oh?! Okay, my boss is looking for you, says you owe him a favor." The man is clearly surprised and nervous, he had a reason to be.
"Well I owe a lot of people favors, your gonna need to be more specific." Ronan could feel Anna's eyes on him.
"Kallum, from the Wolf Clan. He says that you are still vowed in and need to pay your debts." The man nervously rubbed his neck and wouldn't make eye contact with Ronan, but there was nothing he could do but go with this man. The Wolf Clan was one of the largest crime syndicates in the Ki Underground. They were only dwarfed by the Scorpion Clan. The largest in this sector of the Cairo Republic, silent assassins. The Wolves on the other hand, were the silent hunters, large in number and operated like a real pack of wolves. They were dangerous and were never supposed to be a part of Anna's life, now one was standing on their doorstep. Ronan turns back to Anna,
"Hey Sweetie, I need to take care of some work stuff, I will be right back." Her worried eyes bored into him, but she only nodded her head.
"Okay, take me to Kallum." The man smiled and led Ronan down, out of the apartment complex and into the back alley, there a grey car waited for them. The drive was short enough that they couldn't have gone but a few blocks, but still far enough away that he couldn't see his apartment building.
The building was clean sandstone with beautiful teal and purple graffiti, it reminded Ronan of Anna's unicorn. When they entered the building, Ronan also noted how clean it was inside, he also heard music in the distance and as they walked down the hallway it became louder. The man then led him into a room and the source of the music, it was a cantina. In the back of the room Ronan instantly locked eyes with Kallum. They had to squeeze past dancers and clingy guests before finally reaching Kallum's table, Ronan then noted that there were several other Wolven scattered throughout the crowds, they were protection.
"Ronan! My Man! Its been a hot minute since I've seen you!" Kallum got up and hugged Ronan, he always was one for theatrics. "You do look good! I heard you settled down! How's the girl? She is a gem isn't she?" Ronan felt his hackles raise, but he tamped down the feeling, he would not play into Kallum's hands.
"You have no idea! She is just like her mother. Speaking of Anna, I am in a rush, what do you need?" Kallum led Ronan back to his table and poured him a glass of a popular glowing blue drink called Roosta. Ronan doesn't touch his glass.
"You were always a man of action and not of small talk. I asked you here today because I want you to come back. You were, are, my best man, please come back. The Scorpion Clan is becoming a larger presence here and are threatening to steal my men as their own, I need your help."
"You know I can't do that" Ronan leans back in his chair and folds his arms over his chest.
"Why not?" Kallum looks sincerely confused, its all a ploy though. Kallum is smart, but he learned everything from his leader, Ronan. Kallum was then promoted to Alpha after Ronan left. He knew all of Kallum's methods.
"Kallum, stop acting stupid, I have a daughter! I can't just join a gang and expect everything to be fine! It's not going to happen as long as I have Anna, she is my life, my love."
"What if Anna was no longer an issue anymore?" Kallum spoke quietly in between sips of his Roosta, the way he said it made Ronan's blood run cold.
"Kallum. What did you do?" Now that Ronan looked around the creepy guy that brought him here was gone, and Kallum's eyes sparkled with glee.
"When love takes hold of people, it keeps them from reaching the full potential of their talents, remove that love, and you have unbridled potential." Kallum recited the words exactly as Ronan did back when he was the Alpha. Ronan broke into a cold sweat as he made eye contact with Kallum.
"You took away my livelihood all because I was the perfect candidate for the Wolven, this is just a little revenge. He smiled into his cup while Ronan shot out of his chair and barreled his way through the very busy cantina.
Ronan's heart was hammering and chills skittering down his spine as he exited the building. He immediately spotted a taxi waiting for someone. Ronan jumped in and hurriedly gives his address.
The smoke billowed into the too blue sky. Flames licked the outside of the building, in the distance Ronan heard the Fire Truck, they wouldn't make it in time. Ronan ran into the building, he took two stairs at a time, choking on the smoke that kept pressing down on him. When he reached his floor there was fire and smoke everywhere. The smoke was so thick Ronan couldn't see two steps in front of him, it burns his eyes to the point of tears streaming down his face. Ronan stumbled through the hallway and found his apartment door, it was hot, and smoke streamed out of the bottom of the door, yet he burst it open anyway. Nothing would keep Ronan from his little Anna. The scene was horrifying, flames engulfed the couch they were just on this morning, the kitchen was blackened and still burning. He tried to scream out Anna's name, yet the smoke burns his lungs, they feel like they could turn to ash if he screamed. He slowly made his way to Anna's bedroom, avoiding fiery walls and collapsing ceiling structure. The door to her room was open when he peered in. The room was a fireball itself, all of Anna's drawings were gone, her bed up in flames, her closet door shut. Ronan carefully made his way to the closet; he was becoming dizzy and weak from the lack of oxygen. The door felt like it weighed a thousand pounds as he slid it open, his eyes fell on Anna. She was tied up, her eyes glassy but the heartbeat was still there, faint, but there. Ronan scooped her up and staggered back through the apartment, he had almost reached the door when the floor gave way underneath of him and the building collapsed.

...
...
Ronan woke to the sound of sirens and people yelling and crying. It took him a moment to recollect his thoughts. His head was pounding, and he could feel the warm stickiness of blood on the nape of his neck. He was trapped under a large pile of rubble that shifted every time he moved. Something was crushing his chest and made it hard for him to breath, he couldn't feel his legs and he was coughing horribly from all the smoke he inhaled.
Anna.
He searched around wildly until he spotted the small form not far from him. A large boulder had her legs pinned, and her breathing was coming in small spurts.
"Help! We need help!" He yelled; his throat burned like a fire burnt there. The voices grew nearer and soon Ronan could see light start to filter through the rubble. They were going to be okay; they were going to make it.The loud pop music only made Ronan mad, of course he was always mad, but the music was just downright annoying. He stormed into the cantina and pushed through the rowdy crowd, and sure enough there was Kallum. He lounged sipping Roosta and was flirting with a dark-skinned girl who was obviously too young for him.
Ronan stood above Kallum and watched as the girl pointed at Ronan with concern on her face. Kallum turned and saw that it was Ronan and stood.
"Ronan! I see that you changed your m—" Before he could finish his sentence Ronan punched him in the face. Kallum reeled back screaming and cursing as blood poured from his very crooked and very broken nose. The dark-skinned girl scrambled away from Ronan and Kallum and quickly got her phone out, probably to call the police.
"Ah I see you didn't make it in time?"
"You took everything from me."
"Welcome to the club." Kallum was carefully dabbing his nose with a napkin, wincing every time he touched it. "Now you know how it feels to loses everything you love, the only thing you have left is us." Kallum stood tall, ignoring the fact that blood was still pouring out of his nose and onto his nice polo.
"So, are you going to become a Wolven again? Now that your dear daughter is gone?"
"No, I am going to do everything I can to get her back." Ronan's fists clenched at his sides.
"Oh? And how are you going to do that?"
"By killing you." This got Kallum's attention, his eyes narrowed, and his hand went to his handgun. In a lightning fast move he pulled out the gun and pressed it firmly against my chest.
"I can't let you do that."
Ronan slid his hand into his pocket, the cool crystal called to him. He took a deep, calming breath and grasped it, feeling the power run through his body. Slowly he imagined Kallum's fingers releasing the trigger and dropping the gun. There was a clatter and a string of curses. Ronan then imagined Kallum staying perfectly still. Another string of curses exited Kallum's mouth as Ronan opened his eyes and removed the crystal. Kallum's eyes went wide.
"How did you get that?" His voice was low, almost in a reverent manner.
"This is how I'm getting Anna back," Ronan held the crystal up to Kallum's face. "You took her away from me, know you will die." He put the crystal away and as soon as his fingers released the crystal, so did his hold on Kallum. Kallum grabbed Ronan by the waist and pushed him to the floor, the slam disoriented him will Kallum sat himself upon Ronan and prepared to punch him. Ronan caught the fist and pushed Kallum off of him. They both spotted the forgotten handgun. Sirens prompted them into action; Kallum scrambled on the ground as Ronan stood and smashed his foot down on Kallum's ankle, sending it the wrong way with a loud crack. Kallum screamed and let go of the sidearm to cradle his broken ankle. Ronan used that moment to grab the gun and press it hard into Kallum's head. He stared into his bloodshot eyes.
"For Anna." The gunshot sent the cantina patrons scrambling out like it was protocol. All that was left was the Wolven, there was ten of them and they all peered at Ronan and Kallum's limp form with curiosity. Ronan stood and stashed the sidearm in his belt, he then met each of the Wolven's faces.
"Kallum, your leader, is dead. It is Wolven Law that you are now under my rule. I am now the Alpha." All the Wolven then raised their fists to their heart and quickly ushered Ronan out the door as the police filed in, guns raised.
Anna will be found; I will get her back and I don't care who gets hurt in the process.
