CHAPTER 2

January 2020, South Korea

"What, did you get a job?" Daphne replied calmly, but when Crystal told her what actually happened she jumped off the sofa and rushed to her friend to let her know that she was an idiot for not accepting the role in the first place. "It's such a great opportunity to get into the industry, don't be stupid, you could start out there as a trainee but get more opportunities as time goes by. Maybe they will see you as too talent-less and let you go into writing. Seriously you need to call Mel NOW!"

Crystal hesitated for a moment and tried to reason with her friend that it would be tough, and they had to pay rent for their apartment and how it would be so time consuming but her friend reminded her that there was always a sacrifice to be made when chasing dreams. Daphne made a good point and so she decided to give Mel a call the next day to follow up on her offer.

It was a little after 3 in the afternoon when Crystal was preparing an afternoon snack for when she would continue writing a new script for her dream production. Even if she wasn't a writer yet, officially, she would continue sending out her scripts hoping that someone would take an interest in her work and publish it somewhere. Daphne on the other hand, was preparing to head out to this art studio that she just found out about to start taking some classes to get inspired for a new fashion collection. She was always looking for new activities to keep her calm and relaxed and since she has always liked artsy activities, she felt that going for painting classes would be just what she needed. She looked at the time and figured it was about time to get ready to leave for the class, so she washed up, got dressed, stole some snacks and headed out the door.

When she arrived at the studio, she noticed that it was actually in quite a secluded area and not at all as near to her apartment as she thought it was. She made her way into the glass building with lots of flora and was welcomed by a smiley receptionist. "Hi, how can I help you?" the receptionist said, Daphne told her that she was here for her first painting session and was directed to one of the rooms further down the walkway. It was a moderately sized room, very modern and she felt right at home. She decided to take a seat in the back row (didn't want to be noticed too much as she was new) and started setting up, getting different paints and canvas from the cupboards. As she was staring at the paints, thinking of which colours she wanted, she noticed someone entering the room but didn't turn to look as she figured it was just another student.

"Hello, you must be Daphne? The receptionist Mandy told me that you're our new student and I'm so glad that you're here! Our class is quite small because of the time slot, the bigger classes are usually at night." Daphne turned around and noticed the short and stout man talking to her. He looked like he was in his sixties, with balding grey hair and big round glasses. He was really dressed like a typical artist with flowy and earth toned clothing and had a fatherly aura about him. She turned around and smiled and introduced herself again, telling him that she was a little nervous since this was her first time painting in this setting. He reassured her that everything would be fine and that at most, there were only 5 people attending this class.

At that moment, a few more students entered but 1 of them caught Daphne's attention. He was tall and a little tan, with bright eyes and a mysterious aura around him. Dressed in black and a trench coat over, he took the seat at the table next to hers. The Art teacher, Mr. Lee walked to the front of the class and started on what they would be doing for the lesson, watercolor painting.

The guy looked at Daphne, wondering if he had seen her before and looked away. He didn't think that he needed to introduce himself because the less people that knew him the better. Throughout the class, Daphne would sneak glances at the handsome guy in black, she swore she saw him somewhere before but couldn't remember. Since she was here to relax and get inspiration, making friends was not her priority and besides, she was sure she would get close to some of the students as time went on.

Crystal was sitting on the sofa in the zone, writing what she thought was one of the best lines of all time in her latest crime/drama/romance script not noticing that it was almost dinner time and that she should be meeting Daphne at their favourite pasta place. But she was at the height of her inspiration and had to finish the scene she was working on so she decided to call Daphne to suggest ordering in.

*Previously*

Just when the 2 friends thought that they could get a break from drama, it seemed that the past refused to leave them alone. Crystal left Daphne to read the article and headed to the kitchen to prepare for their picnic with Jenny and Samantha later that afternoon.

Daphne finished the article and sighed, "Do you remember the first time I told you about Lay? Meeting him in Mr. Lee's art class?" Daphne asked her friend. "Of course, how could I forget? It was love at first sight and I was equally surprised when he asked you out for dinner on that same day too."
