First Day. Clean Slate.

It's cold. Bitter and dark. The words won't come out, my tongue is frozen. My mind is screaming "help" but I can't seem to even whisper the word. The screams in the distance are brutal. The dark voice even more disgusting. But then their was a rich soft whisper, his Italian accent strong "Come on Bella, don't you want to live? Hush or they will kill you." That's when I blacked out.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The screeching noise of my alarm clock woke me from the cruel nightmare of my past. Rolling out of bed I grabbed the clothes I set out the night before and walking to the bathroom while grabbing towels on the way.

Peeling off my clothes soaked in sweat, I stepped into the steaming hot shower. Burning away the dark secrets ready to start a new life. After all that's what your supposed to do when it's the first day of senior year. Right?

Grabbing my purple towel I stepped out of my shower into the crisp cool air of my house. I dried my body and slipped on my new dress and combat boots, deciding to let my hair dry naturally. Applying light makeup I walked over to my full length mirror.

The girl I saw was lovely. And happy. Her smile radiating good vibes throughout the room. Her beautiful chocolate brown hair cascading in soft curls just past her shoulders. Her long porcelain legs peaking out of the pretty black dress that stopped just above her knees and the cute combat boots catching her mid calf. That girl is me.

Snatching up my black book bag and grabbing my car keys and locked up my little apartment like home and walked into the brisk winter air. I stepped into my 1967 Pontiac GTO, she's a real beauty. Red interior and black exterior. Lucy is her name. As Lucy roars to life I see something move swiftly in the bushes. I open my door and step out ready to attack. I sniff the air in search of a strangers scent. A bunny hopped from the bushes. I chuckled to myself and spun around ready to go to school until I smelt a unusual smell. Vampires

My family declared peace with them but that doesn't mean all of them are peaceful. Blood sucking beasts. I guess I don't have much room to talk though. I'm a hybrid.

I walked to my car and got in. Driving to school. As I pulled into the parking lot I found my numbered parking spot '13'. I payed fifty dollars for this spot. How ridiculous is that?

Walking into the old dull building I saw all the cliché groups. The populars, nerds, band geeks, jocks, outcasts, potheads, and the bad boys. I walked to my locker put my books away and walked to first block. The scent of vampires potent in the air. That's when I saw a guy with pale skin and golden brown hair. You could tell by his attire and the way he carried himself he was filthy rich. Their was a gorgeous boy hanging off his arm like a love sick puppy. A vampire with a human.. That's new.

He sat down beside me and his boyfriend giving him a hug and kiss then walking out of the class. "Hello love. The name is Spencer Michaelis but you can call me Spence." I nodded towards him. "I'm Iris Carter."

The bell rung and human students flooded to the classroom. The teacher entered. He has short blond hair and hazel eyes. His smile is sinister but you can tell he means no harm. His skin tan, his heart pounding in anxiety.

"Good evening class. I'm Arron Rogers. You may all call me mister A." He said in a strong voice fooling everyone into believing he isn't nervous. "We will just be writing a short paper." He said shuffling papers. Groans broke out through the class while I perked up in my seat. I saw Spencer do the same sharing the same excited grin I had "Oh and welcome to theatrical crime solving" and with that he began writing on the board in silence. Hush murmurs of girls talking about the teachers angelic features. 'Choose a partner. And write a descriptive paragraph on a made up victim. Write their feelings before death. Pretend to be the victim.' Was written in cursive on the black board. Immediately two jocks screeched "I call the new girl!" Referring to me. I chuckled and said "new girl has a name. And frankly she'd rather be the murder victim than your partner." All the girls, Spencer, and even the teacher made "ohh" noises.

I fished into my bag in search of my notebook and a pencil. Once I found it I began writing like my life depended on it.

He's coming. I can feel it. My skin rising is goose bumps. He's blood thirsty. No he's thirsty for my blood. I need to escape. Run far away and find help before he finds me. But I know I won't make it. My heart is pumping so loud I'm afraid he can hear it. I hear footsteps coming near. A hand reach out from the dark and grab my arm in a tight, unforgiving grip. Before I could control it a scream ripped from my body loud and blood curdling. He's here. He has me. The hand grips my throat and squeezes. I'm slowly dying. The dark becomes darker until it's finally over.

The bell rung just as I added the last period. I hurriedly wrote '-I.C." And ripped it from my book. Throwing the pencil and notebook into my bag. Snatching the paper from the desk walking to the front. "Please hand me your papers as you leave" said Mr.A as he walked over to the door and opened it. Papers were thrown in every direction. He managed to collect them all. I gave him mine nicely while walking out calmly. Bidding Spencer a farewell. Then walking off to my next class.

Entering the room I saw a female in a pencil skirt with scarlet red lips. Grinning like a Cheshire Cat. Her teeth stained from, no doubt, coffee. Students flooding in along with Spencer's boyfriend. I sat in the back. The secluded corner giving me a calming sense of comfort. Spencer's boyfriend walked towards me. "Hey. Iris, right?" I nodded taking in his features. "I'm Spencer's boyfriend. Daryl Lee" I smiled. "Hello Daryl."

"Okay class take your seats please. I'm Ms. Scarlet." Said the absurdly red woman. "Welcome to trigonometry. Today we will just get to know each other, okay?" The class cheered and spent the class period talking.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Said a deep voice. I looked up to see a huge meat head hovering over me. He smelled of disgusting cologne and sweat, like he dumped the whole bottle on himself after working out. "Do you um need something?" I asked nicely. He slide into Daryl's seat, whom I guess left the classroom, trying to be smooth. "I need you to say yes to going on a date with me Friday night." He said winking suggestively. Pesky human, don't get me wrong they are lovely creatures but these guys annoy me. "Sorry doll face but I'm far to busy to go out on a date with stupidity. I mean you.." I said just as the bell rung signaling it was time to switch classes, or to go to lunch. I walk to my locker and put my books away and get my phone and slowly found my self wandering towards the library. Until I heard a faint whimper and something, or someone, slam into the lockers. I turned the corner to see two jocks beating up a cute nerd I had seen this morning. I took off running and slide into a punch they were gonna deliver to this poor innocent boy. It hit my stomach and I could see regret flash into the eyes of the boy who hit me. I feigned hurt, when it really wasn't a good punch, dropping to my knees clutching my stomach. "Dude you just hit a chick... " said one of the jocks. The boy I was protecting immediately dropped down to help me. "Get out of here before I hurt you severely" I growled at the meat heads. The boy next to me frozen. I started checking the boy for marks. "Are you okay?" He nodded meekly, frowning as he saw his glasses were shattered on the ground. I helped him up. "I'm Iris. What's your name sweetie?" I asked politely. "Ashton. You can call me Ash though." I smiled. "Let's go to the library and talk?" He smiled and nodded. Gathering our things we walked to the library in a comfortable silence.

The library was calm. Only a few people in there studying. It was dim light with tons of books. There is a loft with a spiral staircase leading to it, were you get a book and go up their and have a cup of coffee or tea or hot chocolate and read. Or chat quietly with a friend. And that's exactly what we did.

Once the bell rung we swapped numbers and split up to get our things from our lockers.

It was my free block so I went back to the library and read books. Waiting for my last block. Just as I finish the 5th chapter to the book I checked out the bell rung. I collected my things and walked to class. As I entered I saw Spencer and Daryl in the back corner giggling and having fun. I huffed and made my way to the other side putting in my headphones in. True love doesn't happen. Mates don't last forever. We all die alone..
