The Aftermath of the 4th Great Shinobi War

Two fierce eyes were looking at each other... The battle has been raging since what people call eternity. Since the era of the Ōtsutsuki, the sons of Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki fought over the power of their father, The Sage of Six Paths. The elder was named Indra, while the younger son was named Ashura. While Indra strongly inherited his father's chakra, Ashura was rather weak. But Ashura proved his worthiness and succeeded his father. Indra didn't agree with his father and thus started the rivalry, his war with his younger brother. Even after their death, Indra and Ashura's Chakra reincarnated and kept the war going...

There is a chain that began from creation and continued through the Otsutsuki, never ceasing. People became shinobi and created clans and villages. Even during peaceful interludes, the flames of war never died out, but grew ever stronger... along with hatred. And so, those two continued to face each other, fighting on and on. However, a single ninja was able to sever that chain and cultivate a new future. He created best friends, followed them, challenged them, and connected them. His will, gradually came to encompass all shinobi, the world, and all its hatred, until it came to reveal a new path. His name was Naruto Uzumaki!

THE PRESENT:

"Don't do anything too crazy anymore... or I'll have to take responsibility for it." A man with grey hair, a mask covering his face below his eyes and a headband covering one of his eyes, said. He was known far and wide as Konoha's Copy Ninja, The Sharingan Warrior, Kakashi Hatake! The now Sixth Hokage!

"Thanks, I appreciate it." A boy, with raven hair, wearing a black overcoat replied. This boy was known as Sasuke Uchiha, the only remaining survivor of the Uchiha clan, one of the four noble clans of Konohagakure. The clan that possesses the Kekkei Genkai, known as the Sharingan!

"See you later," Sasuke replies, turning around, just then the boy with an orange jacket steps ahead, holding a headband, it was Sasuke's rouge ninja headband. This boy was Naruto Uzumaki, the ninja who saved the world and ended the war. He moved his hand forward, to give it to Sasuke. Sasuke looks at it and then faces Naruto.

"You... you, still have that?" Sasuke says, looking back at the headband.

"I'm giving it back, it's proof that you are a shinobi!" Naruto says smiling. Sasuke smirks.

"How about I keep it... until our next battle?" Sasuke replies with a smirk, holding the headband.

Standing next to Kakashi was Naruto and a girl with pink hair and green eyes, she was looking down, thinking about Sasuke. "Do you have to go?" She asks, building up courage from the bottom of her heart. She was Sakura Haruno, the team member of Naruto and Sasuke and the student of one of the legendary Sannin, Tsunade Senju.

"Now, I want to know how the shinobi world, how this world looks to me," Sasuke replies. looking at the girl.

Just then, Shikamaru approaches them to meet Naruto. Naruto sees him and waves at Shikamaru.

"Hey Naruto, can I have you for a minute?" Shikamaru says and walks the other way with Naruto. Sasuke looks at them and was about to leave. But then, Sakura stops him.

"Can I... Can I come along with you?" Sakura asks Sasuke shyly.

"This is my journey of repentance. You have nothing to do with my sins." Sasuke replies. Sakura wasn't satisfied with what Sasuke replied. She always loved him and was now wanting to go with him on his journeys.

"Nothing to do with them... huh?" Sakura replies her head bowed down.

"Sakura... just keep in mind, the best person you could get in life, is the person who keeps his word, even if it leads to his death. And that for you is Naruto. I'm sorry to say this, but I'm still not who you would want me to be. And I can never be. But I have the confidence, that Naruto is. After all, this is the same place, where he promised you to bring me back", Sasuke said, looking at Sakura. Sakura then faces down, without looking anywhere.

Kakashi looked at Sasuke, smiling at him. He then changed his look towards Sakura. She was facing down; a drop fell on the ground, followed by another. Kakashi placed his hand on her shoulder.

"Sa..su..ke.." Sakura starts, but then Sasuke cuts off her words.

"Sakura, look at that fool," he says, looking at Naruto, who was talking to Shikamaru, with his hands on the back of his head and laughing. "You think anyone could take care of him more than you could?"

"But..."

"Sakura, promise me. Promise me you'll protect my friend." Sasuke says and turns away. Sakura had no words, she was collapsing from the inside, but she kept herself together. "I might not be here when you want me to, but he can." Just then Naruto comes back, seeing Sasuke leave. Sasuke then eyes Naruto, "Until our next battle..."

Sasuke leaves the village on a journey for repentance, but unknown to them, is bigger trouble, looming in the shadows. After Sasuke leaves, Kakashi turns back to head to the Hokage office. And Sakura turns back managing a faint smile on her face.

"Uh... Lord Sixth, Sakura, will you join me for Ramen?" Naruto asks the two, with his dumb and foolish smile.

"Drop the lord, and I'm a bit busy to join you for Ramen, some other time maybe. You both head-on." Kakashi says and leaves.

"As always, he was never free since he became Hokage," Naruto says, doing a facepalm. "Hey Sakura, wanna tag along?" Naruto asks Sakura, who was in her deep thoughts. Naruto notices this and taps on her shoulder.

"Huh..." Sakura says looking at Naruto and trying to hide her sadness.

"Hey, what happened?" Naruto asks Sakura, noticing the tears in her eyes.

"It's nothing, let's go," Sakura says walking forward, grabbing onto Naruto's hand and dragging him along. Naruto doesn't understand what's going on but follows Sakura. After walking for some distance, he started to speak.

"Hey Sakura, remember, last time you dragged me like this, we were put in Tsukuyomi," Naruto says, trying to talk something. But Sakura doesn't respond.

In some time, they reach Ichiraku Ramen. They enter and place an order for 2 bowls of ramen. After they get the Ramen, Naruto starts eating it and was about to complete eating. But then, he looks at Sakura.

"Hey, what happened Sakura?" Naruto asked in a low and smooth tone. Sakura couldn't hold off her tears any longer, tears start dropping from her eyes. Naruto places his hand on her and once again questions her.

"Naruto..." Sakura says, now crying onto his shoulder. And without her knowledge, hugs him and cries even more.

"Sakura..." Naruto says, trying to soothe her, "Is it something to do with Sasuke?"

"No, it's something to do with my life. I don't understand what to do..." Sakura replies. But her hugging Naruto also made him feel her temperature. She was having a high fever.

"Sakura, you're burning. Let's go to the hospital!" He says, holding onto her and paying the bill for the Ramen. Naruto then carries her to the Hospital, in a hurry.

Author's Note: Just to make somethings clear... I made Road to Ninja cannon. This story is a different approach to Naruto Next Generations, and it will also show the ventures Naruto and friends took on, when Kakashi was the Hokage. Also, this will be a really long...
