I twitch my toes in the hot scalding water at the local nail salon.
Staring off into space is the only good thing about right now.
My mind is blank and I don’t need to think.
All I do is see.
I see the little girl gazing at my red hair.
I see an old woman walk in to the store and ask for a manicure.
I see a woman sitting across from me reading People.
I see the little Asian lady lean over my toes and paint French tips.
I see the same Asian lady lean over my nails and plaster on fake nails.
I see her paint them red.
The same color of my broken heart.
