The Otter Sin of Curiosity

Chapter 1

"Tag Team?" I looked at Ban as we both stared up at the tall Sacred Tree, legend has it, there's a fountain of youth at the top of that tree, "Come on, won't it be easier if one of us goes up there?" Ban pointed at the top, "Maybe~ But what's the fun in that?" I started climbing the tree, "I swear, if you stack it and come tumbling down several of thousands of feet, it won't be my funeral my little otter," Ban smirks, "Oh but you'll be so heartbroken you'll spend your entire life trying to bring me back, kinda tempts me to kill myself right here, right now to see what you'll do," I started to lean back, "I swear if you try and kill yourself you'll never hear the end of it from me, my litter otter," He pulls the back of my collar and puts me back on the tree, "Idiot," He pokes the mark of the otter on my neck and kisses it, "Stupid otter," He grins and we got to the top of the tree. "Who are you, don't tell me you're here to steal the fountain of youth," Both of us reached the top of the tree, "It's beautiful," I looked around, suddenly we were blown back by a seriously strong gust of wind, way too strong for it to be natural, even up at this height, "What the hell?" I heard Ban, he held me close and we both looked at the tree, there was a girl, she was wearing a flowing white dress, no doubt about it, she was the one who created that gust of wind, "Swirling vortex!" I shouted and flicked my arm, there was a powerful gust of wind that saved us from falling and dying, that was one of my abilities, "Geez, who the hell was that little girl anyway? She packed a punch when she blew the both of us off that tree," Ban cracked his neck, "Again?" He grins, both of us tried and tried again, that girl just kept us flying off every time we got to the top, by the end of the day, she ended up listening to us, her name was Elaine, guardian of the fountain of youth, both of us finally decided to stop trying to steal that glass of water until one day, "You have to get out of here, both of you!" Elaine tried to push us away, there was a demon, it was destroying everything in it's path, "There's only one thing that can destroy the fairy kingdom, and that's the fire of Satan," Elaine mutters, it was burning everything, every last tree, every last fairy, it was horribly, "Stay here, Fox Hunt!" Ban used his nunchucks and took the heart of the demon out, he destroyed it, "Now see, it wasn't difficult was it?" He grins, "BAN!" I screamed, "A demon has more than one hear-" My eyes widened, the love of my life, his entire body had a hole in it, he coughed up blood, too much blood, Elaine was also taken in the process, "Run, Yuki. Get away, as far as you can. Don't stop running," Ban breathes out, "NO! I'M NOT LEAVING YOU HERE! BOTH OF YOU!" I screamed, I ran to Ban and Elaine, "Yuki, the fountain of youth, give it to Ban, he's our best chance," Elaine was close to closing her eyes, "But what about you? I'm not letting you die here either Elaine!" I had tears streaming down my face, "Hurry, before it's too late," She holds my hand, I had a lump in my throat, I turned my head around, I saw the glass, it was protected by vines, I grabbed the glass and ran to Ban, my body was pumping with adrenaline, "Ban, please drink it," I pushed it to his lips, "You drink it, avenge the both of us, please Yuki," His eyes were losing their shine, "PLEASE BAN! JUST DRINK IT!" I cried, he turned his head away, I grit my teeth, I took big gulps of the water, he smiled, "That's my little otter, now run. Run away, as fast as you can," He shut his eyes, but they widened in shock, I pressed my lips up to his and forced the water down his throat, at that exact moment, the demon smashed it's fist at me, it pummelled me miles away, I coughed up a significant amount of blood, the demon jumped over to me and grabbed my entire body, squeezing it tight, I felt the air leave my lungs, "Ironic, only a few days ago, I was saying how if I died you'd spend the rest of your life trying to revive me, well now I guess it's time for me to see how it plays out in my afterlife," I closed my eyes, waiting for my inevitable death, "YOU BASTARD!" I heard Ban shout, he cut off the demon's arm, "You stupid otter, were you trying to make me waste my entire life trying to find a way revive you if you died?" I felt wetness of his cheek, "I didn't intend to," I put my hand to his cheek. We defeated the demon that day, no major casualties, Elaine managed to heal after her severe injury, the fairy doctors used special remedies to cure her, the only big difference now is that... Ban can't die, he'll never age, he'll never be dead, what does that mean for me then? He's an immortal and I'm just... mortal.
