Chapter 3 : New home

We spent the rest of the week getting settled in. School would be starting back from the summer break somehow we arrived just in time. I liked our temporary home, though I missed our old one.

Aunt Rose and Uncle Eddie's house had just enough room for us. Grace and Sarah were sharing a room, so I got my own. They had one kid Tyler who was two and another on the way due sometime next month. I felt bad that they had to worry about us too.

Before I knew it it was Sunday night. We had gotten the basic things we would need for school until we got a list. I would be a sophomore and Grace would be a freshman. While Sarah would start kindergarten. I was nervous, this would be my first time in public schooling, but at the same time I was excited

That night I didn't get much sleep. I woke up the next morning threw on green t-shirt and a pair of jeans. I then went downstairs ate a quick breakfast before grabbing my stuff and met up with Grace who was waiting on me.We were pretty close to the school so we just decided to walk. We didn't talk much and were there pretty soon.

People were starting to arrive and head in, so we followed the crowd.
Once we got in we looked for the office to get our schedules. After walking a short distance we found it and went in.

In the center of the room was a long desk where a secretary sat. Then behind that was a couple of rooms with more people sitting behind them. The biggest, being the principles, was closed however.

"Um excuse me?" I said as I approached the lady behind the desk.

"Yes? How may I help you?" she replied as she looked up at me.

"We're new and so we don't have our schedules yet." I explained and motioned to Grace so she'd realize she was with me.

"Last name?" she asked as she turned to open a filing cabinet.

"Cook" I replied though it felt weird.

"Tray and Grace?" she asked after she flipped through a couple of files.

"Yes mam." I replied. She smiled and handed us our schedules as well as a map of the school.

"If you would just wait here for a moment." She said taking up the phone that was sitting in her desk. I nodded and she continued what she was doing and pressed the top button.

"Would Ethan Long and Anna Phillips please come to the office." She said over the intercom system.

While we were waiting I looked down at the schedule reading over it.

English - Mrs. Andrews.

Biology - Mrs. Sanders.

History - Mrs. Tyler.

Geometry - Mr. Smith.

PE - Mr. Martin.

After a few minuets a girl about Grace's age and a boy about mine walked in.

"Ethan. Anna. Good your here. Meet Tray and Grace they're new students and I want you to show them around and help them get to their classes. Ethan you and Tray have the same first period, as does Grace and Anna and your lockers are near each other."

"Ok." Said Ethan and Anna nodded in agreement.

"Thank you. Well I'll let you guys get going. I hope you guys have a good first day here." She said

"Thank you." I said and then followed Ethan out back into the hallway.

"Here let me see your schedule." Ethan said.

"Well you have first with me like she said, and you also have third with me." He said after scanning my schedule. I just nodded to let him know I was listening.
