"The mail's here!" Austin called throughout the house meaning for everyone to hear. Autumn ran into the kitchen looking like a kid in a candy shoppe.
"Is it here?" Autumn said unbelievably fast.
"Uhh, I think so but-" As I walked into the kitchen I could see Austin's surprised face as Autumn attacked the pile of letters. I let out a short laugh seeing Austin so flustered.
"I'm guessing the letter came?" I ask half joking.
"Yep." Austin remarks amused by our sister's behavior. I look at Autumn who has now opened the letter and is eating up every word, her face brightening at the end of every sentence.
"The letter came...the selection...Prince Mason...you could be the queen!" Autumn said almost out of breath. I thought to myself when the last time was when I've seen Autumn so happy, I bet it was when she found out I would be old enough to enter the selection from when she was 9 and I was 2. But of course her happiness was ruined when she figured out she would be just 7 months too old to enter.
"Sorry to burst your bubble, but no I won't be entering," I look into Autumn's eyes and see she is obviously hurt. I feel a pang of guilt in my chest but do not back down.
"The selection is shallow, I don't belong there and I don't even like the prince." My sister looked at me with anger and maybe even a hint of jealousy in her eyes.
"I've been hoping for this since you could walk," Autumn said in barely a whisper, "and you willing to throw it away because you don't like the prince?" Autumn shook her head. Autumn walked out of the kitchen murmuring under her breath. I felt upset, confused. How could something so silly ruin years of childhood friendship together? Realizing what this must've meant to her I ran to Autumn's room to straiten this out. I knock gently.
"May I come in?" When I don't receive a response I push lightly on the creaky door.
"Autumn?" I question, quietly hoping for an answer.
"What is it?" A delicate voice calls. I sadden at how defeated it sounds.
"I want to apologize for being so rude and I want to tell you that I'll enter the selection." Her face lit up like a lightbulb. Thinking for a second a flicker of doubt crossed her face.
"Wait are you sure? Do you really want to go though with this?" I could tell Autumn really meant what she said.
"Yes Autumn I am sure. You mean more to me then any silly contest." I could see the happiness fill Autumns face like a balloon. She squeeled with delight. And grabbed my arm.
"Well if your going to win you have to enter!" Autumn said enthusiastically as we raced down the stairs to fill out the entry form.

The things I had to fill out were pretty straightforward like weight, height, birth date. The one thing I had troubles with was the question about my hobbies.
"Your the best violinist I know, put that down." I was proud my sister thought so highly of me that I couldn't turn her request down. I scribbled that down on the paper while from the corner of my eye I noticed somebody walk in.
"What are you girls doing?" I look at my mom with her golden locks and gorgeous blue eyes, both features much like mine.
"We were just heading for the post office to get this mailed out before the deadline." Autumn said while waving the envelope in the air.
"Oh your entering that?" Mom asked. I was about to answer when my dad walked into the room.
"Entering what?" Dad asked with a suspicious look.
"I'm entering the selection." I answered my dad almost nervous for the answer.
"If your sure you want to go though with this then go ahead." Dad gave is a warm smile. And with that Autumn and I were off to the post office.
