The silence was deafening, being expelled from school was one thing. Being the reason for your parent's divorce is another. Father had his head in his hands when he got the news from my principal. Margaret was checking her freshly painted nails. I won't call her 'mum' she didn't deserve the right to be called that. The divorce papers were signed and Margaret was still staring at me in a deathly way. It wasn't my fault I had to mouth off and tell her why I hated her. She was a cruel bratty, teenager like woman.
I felt the smell of dad's cologne. It was leathery and strong. It would be the last time I would smell that. He gathered his bags and didn't look back. I guess he was also mad at me for calling Marg a brat. The tattered Ute speed off the drive way. It was just me and sissy, stupid Marg. I miss ma she was beautiful, a glowing bright smile with a shine. She got me ice-cream on Wednesdays after school. Her flowery dresses smelt like her sunflower perfume and her make -up was not needed, she was already pretty.
