I had to hide. There was nothing else to do. I had to make it seem like there was no one at home. I closed the curtains. Locked the doors. I ran to my bedroom and hid in a the small cutout in the wall behind my cupboard. I pulled my clothes on hangers to cover my face. I heard my breath rattling. I waited. I shivered. I sniffled. The front door was kicked down. Boots hid the floorboards. Plates smashed. Bottles clanked. I cupped my mouth. I screamed internally. Tears streamed down my face. One of them were entering my room. I gasped. I couldn't control it. I stood still. The man grunted. From a little crack of light in between my clothes i saw the officer turning books over. Going through my drawer. Undoing my covers. Checking for any loose floorboards. He was heading over to the cupboard i was in. Oh no. NO. NO. NO. NO. This cant be happening. I swear there was a pool of tears by my feet by now.

"I found him," the deep voice echoed.
