PLEASE DO NOT BE A NUB. If there is already a problem/storyline, DO NOT start your own. I had this problem in the last roleplay *facepalm* stupid Hoopa labyrinth *mumbles*
Don't be overpowered! Only give your characters legitimate moves/abilities, and no more unconfirmed Pokémon. (Hoopa, Volcanion, etc.)
If you are struck by a super-effective move, IT WILL hurt. It will hardly hurt with non-effective, and does nothing with immunity. Pay attention to types. For example, if Psy was getting tag-teamed by an Umbreon and a Mismagius, if the Mismagius used Shadow Ball, it would hurt. If Umbreon used Bite, it would hardly hurt. (fairy-type resists Dark)
